Vanda Botanical Desserts: Black Sesame And Salted Gula Melaka Gelato At 313 Somerset

Vanda Botanical Desserts at 313 Somerset

Heads up, gelato fans: Vanda Botanical Desserts has opened a takeaway kiosk at 313 Somerset, so you can get your sweet tooth cravings sorted when you’re in town.

Vanda Botanical Desserts offers 12 flavours, all of which are made by Italian Chef Loris Massimini who helms Ristorante Pietrasanta and GelatiAmo in One-North. In case you’re wondering how legit the gelato is here: Chef Loris learned the craft of gelato-making from master chef Manuele Presenti of Chiccheria Gelateria, one of the most well-known gelato shops in Italy.

Prices start at $3.90 a scoop, with premium flavours available at a top-up of $1. You can also opt for their Signature Pairing Set ($1.50), which gets you a fixed set of toppings curated for each flavour, or get your own add-ons at $0.50 instead.

A must-try is the Chrysanthemum Goji Berries ($3.90), an Asian-inspired, floral-infused gelato studded with bits of sweet goji berries. We had this topped with their Signature Pairing Set, which features sakura powder, yuzu peel, and edible flowers.

Enjoy it with their Signature Botanical Cone ($1.50), specially made in-house with a secret mix of herbs including thyme. Otherwise, go for their Butterscotch Cone ($1) for a crisp and buttery bite that complements any gelato flavour.

For the purists, Vanda Botanical Desserts also offers delicious classics including Pistachio ($4.90) and Bacio ($4.90): dark chocolate hazelnut.

Made with Californian pistachios, the nut-infused gelato was incredibly smooth with fragrant bits of pistachio.

The Pandan Coconut ($4.90) gelato was equally impressive with its uber creamy texture, pleasant pandan aroma, and subtle coconut flavour.

The kiosk is conveniently located on the ground floor of the mall, just a few steps from the escalator that comes up from Somerset MRT Station. Footfall is high here, so do expect to wait during peak hours!

If you’re in the area, check out The Ice Cream Bar, also located in 313 Somerset. Otherwise, read our Ohayo Mama San review for affordable high tea in Somerset.
