If you’re a fan of aesthetically pleasing caffeinated drinks, good news: Bangkok-based coffee and matcha chain VE/LA has teased a new opening at Jewel Changi Airport. While the launch date has yet to be revealed, their Instagram post hints that it will operate 24 hours a day, so you can still get your caffeine fix during those wee-hour flight timings. Based on their socials, the exact location looks to be somewhere near the Terminal 1 arrivals.
The brand has grown significantly since its 2021 launch as a small kiosk in Sukhumvit. VE/LA’s Bangkok outlets, particularly its two cafes at Central World, are known for their IG-worthy aesthetics, defined by neutral and earthy tones. It also has cafes in London. FYI: Its name (เวลา) translates to “time” in Thai.
VE/LA organises its coffee menu around the time of day, using concepts such as “Dawn” and “Dusk” to categorise different roasts—the former features darker roasts while the latter spotlights lighter notes. You can also pick your drink according to your preferred colour gradient. Prices range from about ฿105 to ฿325 (~S$4.17 to S$12.90), based on the Central World menu.
We hope to see some of their signature drinks make the Singapore menu, including their popular Kaimook Latte (฿155 / ~S$6.16), Sunny Cold Brew (฿145 / ~S$5.76), and Cloudy Cold Brew (฿155 / ~S$6.16).
The Kaimook Latte (฿155) is a fun one—combining a classic latte with boba tea, it comes with brown sugar, tapioca pearls, and a layer of sweet milk cream on top. If you prefer something refreshing, the Sunny Cold Brew (฿145) pairs their 24-hour cold brew with a bright mix of passionfruit and pineapple tonic. Otherwise, the Cloudy Cold Brew (฿155) leans more indulgent, featuring white chocolate cream whipped over cold brew.
On the matcha front, their Blended Matchaberry (฿245) is a crowd favourite, starring matcha with strawberries, oat milk, plant-based cream, and avocado for a creamy finish. If you want something more straightforward, we recommend their classic options instead, such as Matcha Latte (฿140) and Clear Matcha (฿125), AKA usucha.
Aside from caffeinated options, there’s also an extensive smoothie selection on the menu. Their Blended Cereuleany (฿245) features a creamy mix of blue spirulina, oat milk, banana, pineapple, and mango, while the Blended Blueberry Haze (฿255) layers house-made blueberry syrup with milk and espresso.
While we’re not sure if VE/LA will be introducing baked goods at their Jewel outpost, we’re hoping their banana bread and cookie bites make an appearance, along with their chunky aesthetic cake boxes.
Not much information has been released for now, so keep your eyes peeled for more updates from us!
