This Hidden Cottagecore Cafe Has “Jellycat” Mochi, Loaded Macarons And More

Vic Bakery is a hidden dessert cafe in One-North

If you’re planning a cafe-hopping date with your girlies, here’s a spot to bookmark. Vic Bakery is a cosy cafe known for its IG-worthy bakes and cottagecore interior. It’s nestled in the quiet neighbourhood of One-North, worlds away from the city buzz.

Step inside, and you’ll find yourself surrounded by antique decor pieces, rattan furniture, vintage kitchenware, and dried flowers, all coming together to evoke the warm charm of a dreamy countryside cottage—straight out of a fairytale book.

My colleague and I started with their Peach Oolong Sliced Cake ($11.90), a light and refreshing option for those who enjoy fruity cakes. The cake came with alternating layers of fluffy sponge and fresh whipped cream, accented by a tart peach jelly and juicy peach slices.

Though we appreciated the balanced cream-to-sponge ratio in the cake, we wished its oolong notes could have been a tad stronger.

Don’t miss out on their range of Jellycat Mochi ($7.90): adorable daifuku-like desserts that come in green grape, blueberry, peach, and orange flavours. While we wished the flavours of the fruits were more prominent, these desserts were not too sweet—perfect for those who prefer their treats less sugary.

Coffee aficionados, make a beeline for the Coffee Tiramisu Cup Cake ($15.80). It’s not the most wallet-friendly tiramisu out there, but it turned out to be a collective favourite among all the desserts we tried. The outer layer of crunchy chocolate biscuits paired well with the creamy tiramisu mousse and sponge cake on the inside.

Otherwise, try their range of Macarons ($5.90), which comes in unique flavour combos such as Pistachio Raspberry, Lemon Yuzu, Oreo Peanut, and Mixed Berry. Each loaded macaron sees fresh cream sandwiched between two thick macarons shells that are crisp on the outside with a satisfyingly chewy centre.

We appreciated that the Pistachio Raspberry macaron wasn’t overly cloying, but thought that the tart raspberry notes overpowered the pistachio a little.

If macarons aren’t your thing, go for their dacquoise instead at $5.90 each. Flavours include Raspberry and Oreo Chocolate Hazelnut.

Pair your bakes with their range of drinks, including their signature Creme Brulee ($9). This unique beverage features a layer of torched sugar and rich custard resting atop an iced latte.

If not, beat the afternoon heat with their refreshing Lavender Lychee ($6) and Peach Osmanthus Jasmine ($6) sodas.

Vic Bakery is a small 20-seater cafe tucked away at One-North Eden. For easy access, it’s a short seven-minute walk from Buona Vista MRT Station.
