Get The Viral Erewhon-Inspired Smoothies At This CBD Cafe

Waga Waga has Erewhon-inspired smoothies in the CBD

Love a smoothie but worried about the added sugar and calories? Waga Waga is bringing its own spin on the viral Erewhon-inspired wellness smoothies to a pop-up in Grain Traders—so you can actually sip on them instead of just double-tapping on Instagram.

For the uninitiated, Erewhon is a wellness-focused supermarket chain from Los Angeles. The brand’s drinks skyrocketed in popularity when Hailey Bieber shared an Instagram story in 2022 featuring her smoothie order. The post sparked a collaboration with the retailer, leading to the launch of her own Hailey Bieber Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie—said to be good for the skin—which quickly took the beauty influencer world by storm.

Waga Waga’s version, by contrast, doesn’t rely on celebrity endorsements or marketing spectacles. Instead, it features a series of thoughtfully crafted smoothies, offering a healthy and enjoyable option for the CBD crowd.

Waga Waga offers four Signature Vitality Smoothies, each finished with an organic coconut swirl. We sampled three: the Tropical Hydration ($12), Blueberry F.O.G ($13), and Strawberry Cosmic ($15). All the drinks are made with fresh fruit and ingredients, and they look just as Instagram-worthy as what you see online.

The closest comparison to Hailey Bieber’s beauty-driven drink is the Strawberry Cosmic. While the celebrity version often draws complaints for being too heavy, that’s certainly not the case with Waga Waga’s rendition. Instead, it features a blend of strawberries, avocado, and banana, layered with kuromitsu AKA dark Japanese sugar syrup, and subtle traces of vanilla bourbon whey protein.

Their Blueberry F.O.G is an interesting choice, clearly geared toward post-workout recovery. It’s not hard to see why, with the drink consisting of the essential BCAA amino acid trio—leucine, isoleucine, and valine, vanilla organic plant-based protein, organic chia gel, as well as other ingredients like silken tofu, organic blueberry, and blueberry compote.

Our pick was the Tropical Hydration, a simple yet satisfying prebiotic and energy drink featuring mango, pineapple, passionfruit pulp with seed, and pear juice, topped with organic coconut cream and flakes. The fruits work in harmony to create a refined flavour profile, with its best part being its clean finish, carrying just 2g of fat.

If you’re not in a rush, feel free to take a seat in the simply designed, yet aesthetically pleasing cafe to enjoy your drink. Unlike typical smoothies, don’t expect bold, punchy flavours that hit you all at once. Instead, the appeal of Waga Waga’s niche offerings lies in their balanced, lighter profiles, which allow the quality of the ingredients to shine and particularly resonate with the health-conscious.
