8 Warabimochi Shops In Singapore, Including Japan-Famous Chains

Where to buy warabimochi in Singapore

It seems like the mochi trend is here to stay for a while longer. In this guide, we’ve rounded up the best warabimochi shops in Singapore, from a famous Japanese chain to an online store with free delivery.

In case you didn’t know, warabimochi is different from regular mochi, as it’s made with the starch of the bracken plant—also known as warabi—instead of glutinous rice or mochi flour, resulting in a softer, more jelly-like texture.

1. Warabimochi Kamakura

Japan-famous Warabimochi Kamakura made waves when they arrived on our shores in February at One Holland Village. Now, the popular chain boasts three outlets islandwide, including one at Taste Orchard and another at Takashimaya Shopping Centre. You can get their warabimochi in a 2-Piece Cup ($3.90),  5-Piece Box ($7.90) or 10-Piece Box ($14.90). There’s also the option of enjoying it with Ice Cream ($5.90) and kuromitsu syrup AKA Okinawan black sugar syrup. FYI: the warabimochi here is made with 100% bracken starch, resulting in a smoother and lighter texture.

2. Maru Mochi

Another Japan-famous chain that’s just arrived in Singapore is Maru Mochi. Also known as Maruamami in Hokkaido, the popular brand has launched physical stores at Bugis Junction and Jurong Point! Try their Warabimochi ($4.80 for six pieces), available in three flavours: MatchaKinako, and Black Sesame. These come in a small cup, with soft warabimochi chunks coated in the flavour of your choice. You can also double the portion and get the 12-piece box for $8.80 if you’re buying them to share.
