Popular Wen Li Taiwanese Food Opens In Boon Lay With $3.50 Lu Rou Fan

Wen Li Taiwanese Food opens in Boon Lay

We’ve recently seen a surge in popularity of Taiwanese eateries in Singapore—the cuisine has come a long way since Shih Lin Taiwan Street Snacks was the go-to for oyster mee sua and more. If you’re a West-sider who loves lu rou fan, this PSA has your name all over it, because popular hawker stall Wen Li Taiwanese Food is now open in Boon Lay!

Famous for their $3.50 bowl of Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice, Wen Li Taiwanese Food also serves it as part of a set ($6.80), which comes with a marinated jammy egg, cucumber salad, and a half-portion of Handmade Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken ($3.80) that’s marinated and fried in-house.

We loved the generously portioned bowl of Taiwanese pearl rice and meat—especially that the fat and lean meat came in distinct pieces, bringing an enjoyable contrast in texture to each mouthful. You can be sure the lu rou fan here is legit, because the recipe for this braised pork rice comes direct from a Taiwanese grandma!

While you might be more familiar with orh ah mee sua, AKA oyster mee sua, Wen Li Taiwanese Food serves up Pig Intestine Mee Sua ($3.50). This is also available as a set ($6.80), but comes with just a full portion of Handmade Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken.

Packed with the flavours of black vinegar, raw garlic, and coriander, we thoroughly appreciated this dish, and the well-prepared intestines.

Another affordably priced item that you should definitely order from the menu at Wen Li Taiwanese Food is their Braised Chinese Cabbage ($2), loaded with thick slices of shiitake, and chunks of pork belly for texture and flavour.

If you’re not a West-sider, fret not, because Wen Li Taiwanese Food has two other stalls in Bedok and Golden Mile Food Centre, too!

For all the fans of Taiwanese food out there, we’ve got a list of Taiwanese food places in Singapore that you can check out. One of the latest to join the fray is Breakfast Hola, a Taiwanese breakfast cafe in Chinatown!
