It’s no secret that food brings people together, especially when it comes to family. For a foodie like myself, nothing is more joyous than breaking bread with my family over a scrumptious meal filled with good food and laughter. If you and your fambam are as much of a gastronome as I am, then it’s time to bring them on a food hunt to these 10 family-friendly restaurants for all budgets in the West.

Pizzaboy has both dine-in and delivery options for days when the whole family feels like staying in to catch a movie. One of their more popular pizzas is the protein-packed Mighty Meaty (from $6.20) that comes with loads of turkey ham, beef salami and chicken sausage.
Other equally tantalising options include the cheesy Super Deluxe (from $6.20) and umami-filled Mrs Shroom (from $6.20).

They’ve got some pretty interesting ice-cream flavours too, such as Avocado Gula Melaka, and even Brown Sugar. Prices are easy on the pockets too, with a single scoop and double scoop setting you back $3.90 and $6.20 respectively.
Aside from the usual cones and waffles, Bing Bing also offers frozen bites like the Cookie Sandwich and Biscuit Sandwich, which melt delightfully in your mouth. If you’re planning a birthday party, they also do customised ice-cream and sponge cakes!

Beat the heat with a cool dessert from Tian Wang Soya Beancurd. Great for breakfast as well as a post-dinner treat, a bowl of their Chilled Beancurd Pudding is really affordable at $2. Another must-try is their Tian Wang Famous Coconut Pudding ($4.50), which uses Thai coconut and is absolutely refreshing. Or reminisce about the time you were at BKK with their Coco Ice-cream ($2.50) that’s creamy and not too sweet.

If regular-sized burgers don’t cut it for you anymore, tuck into The New Ting’s juicy, plump burgers. There’s plenty of Western dishes to be found here, as well as some solid craft beers.
The tables here have different games painted on the top, and while waiting for your food to arrive, you can pass some time by playing childhood games like checkers, Aeroplane or Snakes and Ladders.

If coffee was a canvas, Koffee Art Café is where you’ll find the Mona Lisa. The baristas here can make all kinds of delightful latte art, making them almost too pretty to drink. For those looking to satisfy their hunger pang, tuck into mouth-watering dishes like the Wagyu Black Beef Burger ($12.80) or Signature Pizza with Smoked Duck and Lychee ($17.90). If you’re more of a dessert person, try pairing their waffles with their award-winning Gelato.
The ambience here is pretty nice too. The warm lighting and comfy seats make it a conducive place to work or study. Plus, there’s a pool table and mini-library for when you need a study break.

Thonglor Thai Cuisine & Seafood will fill your family up with well-portioned dishes like the Claypot Prawn with Glass Noodle ($18). The bowl contains juicy jumbo tiger prawns that are slow-cooked with glass noodles in a special sauce for that extra burst of flavour.
Fish lovers will enjoy the sour and mildly spicy Steamed Seabass with Lime Sauce. If you like your fish to have a spicy kick, then go for the Deep Fried Seabass with Thai Chili Sauce, which comes smothered in the chef’s special sweet, salty and spicy concoction. Both of these dishes are going at just $19.90. The restaurant also does traditional Thai fare, such as the Deep Fried Pork with Garlic ($9) that’s deep-fried before being sliced into bite-sized pieces.

Fresh ingredients and good service are the two most important factors at a steamboat restaurant. And Upin Hot Pot doesn’t disappoint in either regard. The cuts of meat and seafood are firm and fleshy, and the Hai-Di-Lao-esque vibe of the place lets you enjoy your meal in comfort.
If you’re lucky, you might even get to catch a traditional Chinese “face-changing” performance during your meal. Despite getting to eat like royalty, you won’t have to pay a king’s ransom. Upin’s soup bases start at just $12++, and the more premium dishes like Australian Abalone go for $12++ as well.

Head down to the halal-certified West Co’z Cafe and bond over some delicious zi char with your family. One of the more popular dishes here is the Curry Fish Head ($22++)—and for good reason. The fresh red snapper head is stewed in a thick, fragrant curry that has a nice kick without being too spicy.
Other dishes to look out for include the sweet and spicy Mee Goreng ($5++), as well as the deliciously crispy Prawn Paste Chicken ($10++). The latter is redolent in umami flavour, and delivers a resounding crunch when you bite into the crispy skin.

Say ciao to this small Italian sanctuary tucked away in HillV2. The iO Italian Osteria is so legit, they’ve even been awarded the Ospitalita Italiana Gold Seal Award. Walking in, you’ll immediately encounter rows upon rows of Italian oils, pasta and sauces. There’s also a bakery, where you can bring home fresh-from-the-oven bread or cookies.
Start off your meal here with the Mixed Appetizer ($68++), which includes a variety of bites such as traditional Roman schiacciata, burrata, and grilled bacon roll. Then, tuck into their authentic Italian mains such as the Homemade Tagliolini ($22++) and Spicy Roasted Farm Chicken “Alla Diavola” ($22++) that’s slow-cooked for three hours, before being baked and served.
