Strategically located in the heart of Orchard, Wheelock Place offers a wide variety of cuisines to choose from. Whether you’re looking for a spot to rest your feet after a long day of shopping, or you’re planning a catchup sesh with friends, our Wheelock Place food guide will have you covered.
NamNam is a Vietnamese hot spot most known for its pho, and for good reason. The best-selling Pho Australian Beef Slices & Balls ($13.90, regular) comes with uber tender, premium beef slices, bouncy beef balls, and a clean tasting broth to warm up your tummy. You can also opt for a smaller portion ($9.90) if you have a small appetite! Another light lunch option is the NamNam Signature Cold Cuts ($9.90), the restaurant’s banh mi baguette.
If you have not tried bun cha, a Hanoi classic of grilled meat with noodles, NamNam makes a yummy rendition. The Pork Two Way Vermicelli, Mekong Prawn Roll ($12.90) features fresh veggies, grilled fatty pork, white rice noodles, and herbs, along with a sweet and savoury dipping sauce.

Exclusive to Wheelock Place is Uya 四代目菊川, an unagi specialty restaurant offering quality Japanese fare in an elegant setting. Dive straight into their Hitsumabushi ($35++ for medium, $48++ for large), which sees a huge slab of eel grilled over charcoal, brushed with a lusciously sweet sauce, sitting on a bed of short-grain rice.
There are three ways of enjoying it: eat it as it is, add your preferred condiments, or pour in the dashi broth to create your own ochazuke. You can also have it with the provided Mi Sansho AKA Japanese pickled peppers, specially imported from Kochi, Japan.

Head to The Zall Bookstore Cafe for a quiet respite from the bustling Orchard traffic. This hidden coffee hideout is housed in a spacious two-storey bookstore and art gallery, so you can grab a good read while having your caffeine fix.
A must-try is their Iced Matcha Espresso ($7.50), which sees three distinct layers of matcha, milk and espresso. Pair this with a slice of Brownie with Ice Cream ($7.90-$8.90) or Avocado Lime Cheesecake ($9.90). The former is a sweet pick-me-up that will be a hit with the young ones, while the latter is a light and creamy cheesecake with a hint of avocado flavour, uplifted by a subtle whiff of citrus.

For a mix of traditional and modern Japanese dishes, visit Sun with Moon. This Japanese restaurant has extensive lunch and dinner menus, along with a standalone cafe menu for specialty teas, as well as desserts such as ice cream parfaits and mochi.
Start with the Spicy Aburi Salmon Roll ($22.80++), a shareable sushi roll of crab and creamy avocado, packed within a layer of torched salmon, and topped with spicy mayo and salmon roe. Another must-try is the Salmon & Tori Kamameshi Set ($23.80++ for lunch, $24.80++ for dinner). The set also includes your choice of three mini side dishes, with options including California Roll and Chicken Kaarage.
Something less common is the Yaki Dango ($9.80++), a dessert of sticky and chewy Japanese rice dumplings with a sweet soy glaze, red beans and chestnut paste. End your meal with this traditional treat, or go for the Homemade Warabi Mochi ($7.80++), an equally popular option.

If you’re going meat-free, try their Japanese Tindle Katsu Curry ($19++). The star of this dish is the plant-based chicken alternative, Tindle, paired with a savoury Japanese katsu curry gravy and steamed brown rice. Those who prefer something lighter can go for Tracy’s Favourite Salad (from $18++): a healthy mix of baby spinach, kale, hummus, avocado, hummus, quinoa and more, drizzled with a flavourful chilli-chimichurri dressing.
