White Sands Food Guide: 10 Places For Famous Chwee Kueh, Afternoon Tea And More

White Sands Mall food guide

Easties, you folks are very lucky to have so many delicious food options in your area. Adding to this list is White Sands, which boasts over 60 eateries and kiosks, including exciting new additions and familiar favourites. The shopping centre is also strategically located beside Pasir Ris MRT Station, making it a convenient spot for a quick meal before your commute! To help you decide where to eat here, we’ve shortlisted the 10 best food places in White Sands Mall

1. Twyst

Twyst is a halal-friendly pasta kiosk with nine outlets across the island, including its latest opening at White Sands. Fans return for their wallet-friendly mains that are cooked to order, including the best-selling Aglio Olio Spaghetti with Poached Chicken, Baby Spinach, Mushroom, and Cherry Tomato ($9.90). Alternatively, go for their Creamy Alfredo with Smoked Duck, Cherry Tomato and Baby Spinach ($10.90), where al dente penne is tossed in a rich and creamy sauce, and then topped with savoury smoked duck slices

If you’re feeling adventurous, we recommend their Dry Laksa Olio Spaghetti with Sauteed Prawns, Cherry Tomato and Edamame ($10.90), a savoury and spicy pasta dish stir-fried with an umami-packed laksa paste. There’s also the option of customising your own pasta with your choice of sauce and toppings, which is perfect for picky eaters!

2. Jian Bo Tiong Bahru Shui Kueh

ICYMI: the famous Jian Bo Tiong Bahru Shui Kueh has a new kiosk in White Sands Mall. The homegrown brand, which has been around since 1958, has also been awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand title for four years in a row!

You won’t go wrong with their Signature Shui Kueh ($3.80), where five pieces of freshly steamed rice cakes are topped with a generous mound of house-made chai poh. If you’d like more variety, order the Signature Four Bento Set ($5.80), which gets you two pieces of chwee kueh, one slice of yam kueh, one strip of chee cheong fun, and one scoop of glutinous rice. To complete your feast, fill up with the Century Egg and Lean Meat Congee ($4.50), comprising smooth porridge studded with piquant century egg pieces and tender pork slices.

Pro tip: the kiosk opens from as early as 7am, so early risers can get their brekkie fix here!

We recommend The Signature Pork Crispy Entree ($6.50), where a crispy Chinese pancake sandwiches tender grilled pork chunks. If you’d like something more filling, consider the Crispy Chicken Cutlet Pancake ($7.50) instead. Here, a thin pancake is made to order, then stuffed with a myriad of fillings, including a crispy fried chicken cutlet, fresh veggies, and creamy mayo.

Alternatively, the Traditional Sesame Cold Noodles ($5.50), starring noodles and veggies with a nutty sesame sauce, are the perfect treat for cooling down on a hot day.

Else, those who want a refreshing option can opt for the Passion Fruit Gardenia White Tea ($3.90), the ideal mix of floral and fruity. We also enjoyed the Avocado Coconut Shake with Noodles ($5.90), a rich frappe comprising creamy avocado and coconut, paired with QQ coconut-infused noodles for an addictive bite. Treat yourself to their cake set, which goes for an affordable $9.90 for any slice of cake and a hot beverage. We highly recommend their Red Velvet Raspberry Cake, featuring light and fluffy red velvet cake layers stacked with a tangy raspberry and cream cheese frosting that’s not too sweet.

Alternatively, if you’re here between 2pm to 5pm, enjoy their $8.80 afternoon tea set, which gets you two pieces of scones or Taiwanese pineapple tarts, paired with a hot tea or coffee. Do note that this set is only available till 30 September 2024. Here, the bird is brined overnight in a secret recipe, then slow-cooked over a flame, resulting in uber-tender, juicy meat.

Poulet also serves a small range of pasta mains, including the delicious Creamy Beef Oxtail Pasta with Caramelised Onion ($18.90++), where al dente tagliatelle pasta strands are tossed in a luscious sauce, topped with melt-in-the-mouth beef. We’re also huge fans of the Coconut Latte ($8) and Iced Minty Coconut Latte ($8.50), where sweet and creamy coconut milk takes centrestage. Additionally, Luckin offers coffee alternatives such as Matcha Latte ($8), said to be a well-balanced mix of velvety milk with earthy green tea.
