In celebration of Singapore’s 60th birthday, iconic heritage brand Ya Kun Kaya Toast has collaborated with The Fullerton Hotels Singapore for a limited-time high tea, the Memory Lane Afternoon Tea.
Priced at $60++ per adult and $30++ per child, the high tea set features dainty pastries and bites inspired by nostalgic local flavours—think Ya Kun’s iconic Nyonya kaya and signature kopi.
Start your meal with their Chilli Crab Bun that’s topped with chilli crab sauce, a slice of crunchy cucumber, kohlrabi, and a dollop of caviar atop a soft bun. If you’re someone who eats chilli regularly, don’t expect much heat, as this snack is more savoury than spicy.
Next, have their Smoked Trout, which tastes similar to smoked salmon. The trout is served with espelette chilli, tamarind, and a slice of quail egg, but again, there was barely any kick of spice here.
The Nonya-style Curry Chicken that’s served in a potato bun was rich and came with a coconutty aroma.
Spice lovers, this is where you rejoice—the Prawn Otah packed quite a legit kick. The spicy otah paste is paired with sweet pineapple gel and savoury ikura, and we loved the bold sweet-savoury contrast in every bite.
Besides the Cucumber Cream Cheese Sandwich, the Truffle Cage-Free Egg Mayonnaise is the last of the savoury dishes you’ll get. One bite in, and the truffle aroma hits strong.
Savoury dishes aside, try the Pandan Kaya, a pandan chiffon made with Ya Kun’s iconic kaya jam. The sweet-tangy mango cubes on top helped to quell the heaviness of the batter.
There wasn’t much to shout out about the Kopi Tiramisu, aside from its adorable cup-shaped design. But we have to give it to the Yuan Yang, featuring a Ya Kun tea-infused sponge cake with dark chocolate made with Ya Kun kopi. The attention to detail really showed in this dessert.
The Ondeh Ondeh is my colleague’s favourite. Unlike the traditional chewy glutinous rice ball, this version comes in a crisp pastry shell filled with pandan chiffon, gula melaka cremeux, and coconut lime mousse—a modern twist on the classic kueh.
We loved the Coconut Calamansi too, starring tangy calamansi curd atop coconut chantilly cream and a soft vanilla biscuit tart.Â
Finally, round off your meal with their Classic Scones & Coconut Pandan Scones, served with a side of Ya Kun kaya and fresh cream.
You get a choice of hot Ya Kun coffee or tea, as well as their house-made ‘Nanyang Breeze’ Mocktail, a refreshing drink made with fragrant clarified coconut milk, sweet gula melaka, tangy pineapple juice, and fresh lime juice.
From now till 31 August 2025, you can enjoy this afternoon tea at The Landing Point, the hotel’s chic waterfront restaurant, where you can soak in stunning views of the Marina Bay skyline.
