When it comes to Korean cuisine in Singapore, Iād typically find a slew of Korean barbecue places and restaurants serving the usual fare such as jajangmyeon, kimchi pancake, ramyeon, and tteokbokki. However, other popular Korean dishes such as marinated raw crabs and bossam, AKA boiled braised pork, are harder to come by. Yogiyo Korean Restaurant, a relatively new, Korean-owned restaurant at Beauty World Centre, is where you can find just that.Ā

Most patrons come for the Bossam, Braised Pork, as it is said to be the most value-for-money. At $20++, youāll get a large platter comprising thick slices of braised pork and complimentary banchan, served with soup, rice, and vegetables.Ā

Another popular pick is Ganjang Gejang, a dish thatās seen an immense rise in popularity over the last year or so. The dine-in set ($45++) features a whole raw crab marinated in soya sauce, rice, stew, a meat dish, and some banchan such as radish kimchi and egg rolls. You can also get the takeaway set ($100) instead, which comes with three crabs and side dishes.Ā
This highly savoury dish is said to have a fresh, creamy, and umami flavour, and is best enjoyed with white rice. If youāre interested, do note that youāll have to call the restaurant to pre-order your marinated crabs two days in advance.

If raw seafood isnāt your thing, you can go for their noodle dishes instead, such as Jjambbong Spicy Seafood Noodles ($15++). It stars a spicy, seafood-rich broth with plenty of fresh clams, prawns, and squid.Ā

Alternatively, Yogiyoās Cold Buckwheat Noodles ($15++) are worth a shot if youād like something light, refreshing, and filling. If youāve not had naengmyeon before, it stars chewy buckwheat noodles in an icy, clean-tasting beef brothāespecially welcoming after the heavy flavours of other Korean dishes.
