Yuan Wei Seafood has cheap crabs at MacPherson

Not too long ago, a post on the Facebook group Can Eat! Hawker Food spread word about a zi char stall that sold a bunch of crab pincers for just $5 each. That post is referring to Yuan Wei Seafood, a stall in MacPherson known for its value-for-money seafood dishes.

The above image shows what the original poster managed to get: four crab claws, prepared kam heong-style, for a total of $20. That’s an incredible $5 per claw. The post even noted that the claws were sizeable and fresh.

Do note that the original poster was offered this deal when the usual whole crabs were sold out. So while you may not be able to get this every time you visit, the crabs here are still really affordable. The Salted Egg Crab and Sour and Spicy Crab, for instance, will set you back just $30.

Even the lobsters are cheap here. According to the menu, the Salted Egg Lobster and Sour and Spicy Lobster go for a mere $30.

If you’d like to have fresh seafood along with hearty carbs, you can opt for dishes such as the Crab Fried Rice ($5.50) and Lobster Yee Mee ($12). Again, these prices are astoundingly cheap.

Do note that on Google Maps, there have been a number of reviews criticising the stall for its poor service and long waiting times. With those prices, however, it may well be worth the risk.
