Yunos N Family: Famous Mee Rebus And Satay Since 1965 In AMK

Yunos N Family has mee rebus and satay at Ang Mo Kio

Don’t let the modern-looking signboard fool you—Yunos N Family at Ang Mo Kio Central Market & Food Centre is one of the older mee rebus stalls in existence, having been opened in 1965. While it is chiefly known for, you guessed it, mee rebus, the stall also makes excellent satay and soto dishes.

A bowl of Mee Rebus ($4) here is as classic as it gets. A pile of yellow noodles is submerged in a thick coat of gravy, which is sweet-savoury, spicy, and nutty all at once.

There’s also tau kwa, dried shrimps, and a hard-boiled egg in this bowl of rich goodness.

The soto dishes that Yunos N Family offers are Mee Soto, Bee Hoon Soto, Kway Teow Soto, and Soto Ayam, all of which cost $4 each. Of course, if you want to get something other than a rice dish, then soto ayam is your pick.

Rice cake is the carb in this dish, and it’s joined by shredded chicken, beansprouts, and coriander. All of that sits in a soto soup that’s aromatic and peppery—for those who haven’t tried this dish before, think of it as a kind of spiced chicken soup.

Regardless of which main dish you get, don’t forget to get some Satay ($0.80 per stick) to go along with it. Yunos N Family offers Mutton, Beef, Chicken, and Tripe skewers that are all juicy and wonderfully smoky.

Dip them in the super fragrant peanut sauce for the complete satay experience. Do note that you need to get a minimum of 10 sticks to order the dish.
