Warabimochi Kamakura is no stranger to Singaporeans, especially because many of us are fans of this sweet, chewy Japanese treat. If you’re one of the avid fans, you’ll be excited to know that there’s a warabimochi-themed high tea at 1864, Sofitel Singapore City Centre.

From 1 March to 30 April 2025, Warabimochi Kamakura is partnering with Sofitel Singapore City Centre to present French Elegance meets Japanese Artistry, a unique high tea experience where you can expect classic elements of warabimochi artfully crafted using French culinary techniques.

The high tea is priced at $138++ per set and comes on a Japanese zen garden-themed plate. It’s an 11-course set with two glasses of chrysanthemum mocktail and two cups of coffee or tea, alongside a good mix of sweet and savoury items.

For savouries, expect the Warabimochi Tempura with Snow Crab Slaw and Black Tobiko, featuring tempura warabimochi in kinako powder and topped with sweet snow crab meat that’s tossed with olive oil and lemon zest, then finished with black tobiko.

There’s also the “Yakishabu” Beef with Black Garlic and Mangetsu Egg, a tender beef flank slow-cooked with black garlic, a creamy mangetsu egg, and a drizzle of house–made ponzu and chive oil for a burst of aromatic flavours.

A standout dish is the French Duck Rilette with Sakura Jelly in Monaka Shell, which comes with a velvety duck rillette topped with sakura jelly and calamansi juice, all encased in a crispy sakura-shaped monaka shell for a contrast of crispy and creamy textures.

After savoury dishes, indulge in a selection of sweet treats, including the Goma Crepe Roll Cake comprising thin layers of bracken crepe for a chewy yet soft texture and black sesame cream for a melt-in-your-mouth experience.
Another dessert you can expect is the Salted Peanut Chocolate Warabimochi Tart, which comes with a Manjari chocolate warabimochi filling, crunchy peanut nougatine, Manjari cream, and a salted peanut for a balance of sweet and salty flavours.
