Amps Tea: New Tea Bar By Chagee Singapore Team With Over 10 Outlets In SG

Amps Tea opens at JEM with outdoor seats

It’s been getting hotter in Singapore, and the humid weather is reason enough to quench our thirst with some refreshing tea. If you’re in the West, Amps Tea is one for the books—they serve up a range of latte, fruit tea and more at JEM! Here comes my favourite part: there are indoor and outdoor seats to enjoy your cup of tea over conversations with your friend.

In case you didn’t know, Amps Tea is Chagee’s attempt at rebranding, after outlets of the popular bubble tea brand closed earlier this year.

There are a total of five series on the menu: Latte, Fruit Tea, Handcrafted Ice Blended, Cold Brew, and Fresh Brew. Out of these five, I tried a drink from the Latte selection, and two drinks from their Fruit Tea range. What’s interesting about Amps Tea is their focus on the tea itself, and not so much the toppings. Here, there are only three toppings to choose from: Cheese Top ($1.80), White Pearls ($1.20), and Osmanthus Jelly ($1.20).

Let’s start with my personal favourite, the Triple Peach Season Tea ($6.20). This quencher comes in a pretty shade of coral, and is made mainly with peach puree to create a mildly sweet and fruity flavour. There’s a tendency for peach-flavoured drinks to taste artificial, but I liked that their peach tea was nothing like that. If you’d like an upsize of any Fruit Tea drink, simply pay an additional $2.

Speaking of fruit teas, I took a sip of their Signature Fruit Tea ($6.90) next. This cup was filled with a variety of fresh fruits: lemon and orange slices, watermelon cubes, and passion fruit pulp. This one’s lip-puckering sour, so if you like drinks that are super intense and sour, it might just be your cup of tea. And of course, like most tea stores, you can choose your desired sugar level ranging from 0% to 100%.

Having tried two of their Fruit Tea drinks, I then moved on to give the Amps Tea Latte ($6.20) a go. This creamy latte uses da hong pao AKA oolong tea as its base, giving the drink a full-bodied flavour with a sweet aftertaste. You can pay an additional $1.50 to upsize any drink in the Latte selection!

There are more than 10 Amps Tea branches across the country, and every store—except Wisma Atria—is housed with seats. Here at JEM, there are about four indoor seats and more than 30 outdoor seats. It’s a great spot for students to chill, and for colleagues to take a breather during lunchtime.

Amps Tea is located outside JEM across Marche on level one. Since they just opened their doors on 24 February 2024, do bear with them if you experience any hiccups.
