Tampines residents are in luck. Many new cafes and bakeries are popping up in the newer BTO estates—you have Glasshouse Creamery in Tampines West, Dough in Jungle in Tampines North and plenty more lined up. Betsubara Creamery & Cafe is another new addition to the Tampines GreenVerge neighbourhood, having opened recently in December 2023.

If the name “Betsubara” sounds familiar, that’s because they have two other locations: Thomson Plaza and Marina Square. This Tampines North branch marks their third outlet!

Betsubara Creamery & Cafe is known for their Signature Hokkaido Butter Waffles ($7.90), baked to order on-site. They’re said to be thick and buttery, with a slightly crisp exterior and fluffy middle. They also have Butter Croffles ($9.90), which come in a set of two. You can add a single scoop of ice cream ($4.80) or double ($8.50) if you’re feeling indulgent; their ice cream is made with a premium Hokkaido milk base!

You can get their ice cream on its own for the same price, too. Popular flavours include Lavender Hokkaido Milk, Rock Melon Hokkaido Milk, and Roasted Pistachio. Super Premium flavours require a top-up of $1. There’s also their signature Sea Salt Hokkaido Milk ($4.80) soft serve, creamy and milky with a tinge of sea salt to balance out the sweetness.

If you’re not in the mood for desserts, caffeinated pick-me-ups such as Caffe Latte ($5 for hot, $6 for iced), and Hojicha Latte ($5 for hot, $6 for iced) are available, too.

Betsubara Creamery & Cafe is hidden in the Tampines North BTO estate, a 20-minute journey by bus and foot from Tampines MRT Station. The spacious cafe is cosy and homely, with expansive island seatings for solo diners to enjoy their desserts and larger tables for bigger groups.
