I’m sure many of us can agree that Korea has the best fried chicken, whether it’s the classic deep-fried variety with golden-brown skin or tossed in a sweet-spicy sauce. If you’re a fan, there’s a new Korean fried chicken spot to check out: Bokk at Upper Thomson. While not run by native Koreans, the eatery has been receiving a lot of positive reviews online lately!

Bokk’s offerings are simple—it’s essentially just fried chicken, some sides, and drinks. There are three fried chicken flavours to choose from: Original, Soy Garlic, and Yang Nyeom, which refers to a sweet-spicy sauce. It costs $10 for two pieces, and $15 for three, but if you’re visiting in a group, consider the 8 Piece Tray (from $38) instead.

I’m a fan of the classic fried chicken with no extra seasoning or sauce, but many diners touted the Soy Garlic as the best flavour here. This one’s great if you love a mix of sweet and savoury flavours with a hint of aromatic garlic.

As for sides, you can opt for the Daikon ($2) or Fresh Kimchi ($2) to cut through the chicken’s greasiness, alongside some Fries ($8) to share with your dining companion(s). If you can’t decide between the Daikon and Fresh Kimchi, I’d recommend the former as it’s a classic accompaniment to any Korean fried chicken experience. Koreans also enjoy pairing fried chicken with beer, which is available here at $12 per bottle!

Bokk is located in 183 Longhaus, a mixed condo development that’s a six-minute walk from Upper Thomson MRT Station. It’s not the most spacious, but there are dine-in seats for you to chill over some crispy fried chicken and a chilled beer on the side.
