Introducing the new CHAGEE BO·YA Jasmine Green Milk Tea
Last year, Eatbook paid a visit to CHAGEE in the name of community service: trying every single drink on their menu. After working their way through dozens of brews, our hosts came to a unanimous conclusion: the Jasmine Green Milk Tea stood out as one of the best. That verdict is no surprise, considering CHAGEE sells a staggering 600 million cups of it every year.
Why is the Jasmine Green Milk Tea so popular? Well, the answer lies in the international tea brand’s belief in no shortcuts.

Any fan of the brand knows that CHAGEE prides itself on sourcing premium teas, going to extreme lengths to reap maximum flavour from all their brews. According to The Spruce Eats’ culinary glossary, many jasmine green teas rely on artificial flavourings to capture that quintessential “jasmine” aroma. While these teas may taste floral upon first sip, they lack depth and complexity.

In the case of the Jasmine Green Milk Tea, only the youngest leaves from two tea varieties are used: Yunnan high-mountain tea leaves and Fujian Da Bai Hao.

It’s not jasmine green tea without the jasmine. At CHAGEE, only the buds of fresh jasmine flowers, harvested in their prime in May, are used. The buds then go through a multi-step selection and maturation process, done entirely by hand, to ensure only the best blossoms perfume the tea leaves.
These labour-intensive practices then result in the distinct floral fragrance and smooth, lingering taste that make CHAGEE’s Jasmine Green Milk Tea so beloved.
But, when an icon reaches cult status, what’s next? To honour this crowd favourite drink and its success, the brand has decided to rename the beverage BO•YA Jasmine Green Milk Tea, in celebration of International Tea Day, held on 21 May.

The BO•YA in the name pays homage to an ancient Chinese guqin player of the same name. Skilled as he was, Bo Ya felt that the masses could not understand his music and the meaning behind his melodies until he met Zhong Zhiqi, a woodcutter.
Ziqi was the first who truly grasped the emotions and imagery behind Bo Ya’s playing, describing the music as towering like mountains and flowing like rivers. Bo Ya and Ziqi’s connection encapsulates what it means to forge a true connection with someone else.

The legend of Bo Ya and Ziqi offers an analogy for what CHAGEE believes in: that a thoughtfully brewed cup of tea has the power to bring people together.
So, the next time you’re looking to satisfy your CHAGEE craving with an order of their BO•YA Jasmine Green Milk Tea, consider going the way of Bo Ya and Ziqi, and buy a cuppa for your kindred spirit, whether it be your bestie or a loved one. At the end of the day, CHAGEE brews their teas for more than just taste—it’s about savouring the connection each drink inspires.
Get the Bo Ya Jasmine Green Milk Tea from $4.90 for the regular size at CHAGEE outlets islandwide. The franchise has also just celebrated opening over 6,000 stores worldwide, including outlets in Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, so you can get your CHAGEE fix wherever, whenever.
