The Best F&B Places In Singapore, Voted By Locals For Chope Diners’ Choice 2020

Chope Diners’ Choice 2020

The perennial question of, “Where you want to eat ah?” has just been solved with the release of Chope Diners’ Choice 2020 Winners list, spotlighting the best food and beverage destinations in Singapore according to category.

Unlike other food awards in Singapore, the Chope Diners’ Choice is an annual celebration by Singaporeans, for Singapore’s food establishments. Locals vote in their choices for who deserves to win titles like Restaurant of the Year, Cafe of the Year, and more. The eight winning categories have deeper meaning this year for both voters and recipients—a sign of celebration and support amidst a shaky year for the dining scene in Singapore.

So, the next time you and your friends are racking your brains over where to dine, it’s simple: go for the Singaporean-approved best.

Here are the winners of Chope Diners’ Choice 2020, proudly sponsored by Shell.

The Line

Bagging Restaurant Of The Year is The Line, the flagship restaurant at Shangri-La Hotel. Their substantial menu features 88 dishes that take you on a journey through global cuisines, from seafood on ice, sushi, naan baked in a tandoor oven, and more. What makes The Line stand out from the gamut of restaurants in Singapore is also its ambience—the 1,350 square metre space has both in- and outdoor dining spaces, all equally chic and ideal for dates or special occasions. If you’d like to dine here, make a reservation via this link.

Address: 22 Orange Grove Road, Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore 258350

Hopscotch

Named Bar Of The Year, Hopscotch is the kind of hideaway you’d want to find yourself at after a long, stressful day. Located in Gillman Barracks, the laidback bar was formerly a pop-up. Now their permanent residence, they serve a combination of craft cocktails and bar bites such as Hyogo oysters at $4 with a minimum order of three pieces here. More substantial mains are also available, including a Wagyu Burger ($24) and Chilli Crab Linguine with Lobster ($28). On the cocktail end, Hopscotch cleverly interprets local flavours in their drinks, twisting bandung, Milo, and even Chinese herbs into tipples.

Enter with a date through a walkway of traditional Japanese arches, then be awed by the extravagant dining area, as well as dishes like the KOMA Roll ($65), with A5 wagyu, Hokkaido uni, and king crab.

Wild Honey

Wild Honey is one of Singapore’s OG cafes, serving up an international menu of all-day breakfast across its outlets islandwide. It’s little surprise that this stalwart won Cafe Of The Year, given the number of choices and cuisines you can sample across the course of one brunch. Popular favourites include the Delancy ($26), a New York-style bagel with hand-sliced beef pastrami and poached eggs, as well as the Sweet Morning ($20), where brioche French toast meets grilled mango, vanilla bean mascarpone and hibiscus-berry compote. They also have inclusive plant-based and gluten-free options.

A new category for the Chope Diners’ Choice this year is the Best Delivery Experience award, which is no less important given how central food delivery has been to our lives this year. TungLok Teahouse, the casual diner arm of the TungLok Group, became a go-to for many to get their dim sum and cha chaan teng fixes during the Circuit Breaker and beyond, with great service and delivery bundles that led to this award. Their delivery options are still open, with different dim sum sets from $48 you can enjoy at home.
