Dian Xiao Er is the go-to Chinese restaurant for many. The family-friendly dining destination is renowned for their variations of roast duck, including their signature Duck Roasted with Angelica Herb (from $18.30++), where the duck is marinated in aromatic dang gui before roasting. 

Alongside this signature, Dian Xiao Er also has a line-up of homely dishes such as Fish Maw Thick Soup with Seafood ($20.90++), Baby Kai Lan with Salted Fish & Lime ($14.30++), Sliced Garoupa in Assam Style ($25.30++) and the like, mostly under $30. 2. TANYU

Chinese grilled fish has taken over the Singapore food scene, but TANYU remains the OG spot to get your fix. They’re known for having seven different flavours of grilled fish, with spicy and non-spicy options available. On top of that, TANYU offers chuan chuan, AKA Chinese-style barbecue skewers, to turn your meal into a full-on feast. 3. New Ubin Seafood

New Ubin Seafood is a well-known modern zi char restaurant, famed for their seafood dishes and signature 100% USDA Black Angus ‘Choice’ Rib-Eye Steak (from $104.50++), which is flame-grilled to your preferred doneness. But, few know that the restaurant has recently launched a weekday lunchtime menu with exclusive lunch bowl sets!

4. Aburi-EN

Aburi-EN is one of our favourite spots for affordable Japanese donburi bowls with aburi-ed meat. Get the Mentaiko Buta Don ($14.90++), one of their most popular items, starring grilled pork loin that’s topped with mentaiko mayonnaise and torched to finish, served atop pearl grain rice from Hokkaido. Another popular item here is the Truffle Roast Wagyu Don, where you get slices of melt-in-your-mouth Australian Wagyu dressed with truffle paste for just $19.90++. They have a wide range of dim sum, mains, and carbs, such as rice, noodles, and congee dishes to choose from. Tajimaya Yakiniku is an excellent choice for yakiniku, especially for Wagyu lovers. Their extensive menu includes A5 Wagyu sourced from various established farmers in Japan. Aside from their extensive line-up of beef, the yakiniku restaurant also serves up fresh seafood, sushi, and other light Japanese bites. Yakiniku is best enjoyed with a friend or two, so if you’re dining here with your loved ones, note that Citi Cardmembers can enjoy a 1-for-1 deal on the a la carte sashimi offerings here, excluding the Sashimi Moriwase. Options include classics such as Salmon (U.P. $13.90++) and Salmon Belly (U.P. $16.90++), but you can also enjoy the deal on their Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef Tartare (U.P. $28.80++).
