There are plenty of food options in Hougang, especially hidden gems such as Ola Acai, which serves affordable acai bowls, and Sweet Scoop, a late-night cafe with locally inspired gelato. Creme by Lele Bakery is another dessert spot in the area that recently garnered online traction for their innovative Orh Nee Waffles ($4.80 for half, $6.80 for full)—baked-to-order waffles filled with actual yam paste.

According to their Instagram video, the waffle batter first goes into the hot grill, followed by four generous dollops of yam paste.

You get piping hot waffles that are crispy on the outside and light within, with the creaminess and earthiness of the orh nee paste in each bite. We hear these waffles will only be around till July 2024, so make sure you try them ASAP!

If yam isn’t your thing, they also offer Nian Gao Waffles at the same price! For all waffle options, you can add on a scoop of gelato or two. Top up $4.20, $5.20, or $6.20, respectively for a single scoop of Classic, Premium, or Deluxe flavour. Double scoops are priced from $7.50.

Popular gelato flavours include Vanilla Raspberry Milk, Biscoff Cheesecake, and Chrysanthemum Cacao Nibs.
