We all love Din Tai Fung’s signature xiao long bao, starring piping hot soup and tender meat enveloped in a velvety-smooth dumpling skin. If you love these dumplings as much as we do, here’s good news: the viral mochi chocolate xiao long bao is now available in Singapore, and we think this sweet alternative to the usual savoury choice is perfect for chocolate lovers!

The Mama Mochi Chocolate Xiao Long Bao ($12.80++ for six/$15.80++ for 10) is officially part of the permanent menu at all outlets islandwide. Fun fact: this new dish is said to be inspired by the chocolate lava XLB and sea salt cream hack that went viral in the US.

The Mama Mochi Chocolate Xiao Long Bao is served hot in the usual bamboo steam basket that XLB lovers will be familiar with. As soon as you lift the lid, you’re greeted with petite dumplings filled with premium chocolate and mochi filling.

If you’re an XLB aficionado, you’d know the right way to eat them is to take a bite and let the filling ooze out. The chocolate filling was just the right amount of sweetness, and we liked that it was rich and gooey.

These tasted even better when paired with their house-made Sea Salt Cream, making for the perfect sweet-salty combination. A quick tip: enjoy this complimentary sauce with every order of the chocolate XLB till 31 December 2024. Thereafter, you have to top up an additional $3++.

The mochi chocolate XLB isn’t all; DTF has also brought back the popular Steamed Chocolate Lava Bun ($3.80++ for one/$11++ for three) just in time for the Christmas season. Do note that this seasonal item will only be available till 31 December 2024.

Tear apart the soft and fluffy cocoa buns, and you get a decadent molten chocolate centre. These pretty buns which sport a streak of gold brush on top, are made of sourdough air-flown from Taiwan, giving it an airy yet chewy bite that perfectly complements the rich chocolate within.
