Opened in early July 2022, Famous Palace is a relatively new Chinese restaurant located on the second level of Seletar Country Club. The restaurant’s a la carte dishes and set menus see a repertoire of delectable dishes with Teochew, Cantonese, Hainanese, and Peranakan influences.
The interior is decked in classy, oriental-inspired decor and boasts a gorgeous panoramic view of the Seletar Golf Course and Seletar Reservoir. With a seating capacity of 160 diners, the restaurant is suitable for big gatherings or family dinners after a day out at the golf course. Private rooms are also available for more intimate events or birthday parties, complete with a karaoke system for guests to sing their hearts out.
For the month of October, diners can also enjoy 50% off on Famous Palace’s signature creations, including the Drunken Prawns (U.P. $28++ for 500g), Braised Fish Head in Claypot (U.P. $18++ for half-head), and Deep-fried Teochew Prawn Roll (U.P. $9++).
Start off your meal with the Chilli Spiced Century Egg Pudding ($12++), an eye-catching appetiser that resembles a dessert. The dish comprises chilled century egg pudding with a layer of egg yolk and chilli paste for a hint of spice.
Whet your appetite further with the Double Boiled Chicken Soup With Peach Essence & Morel Mushroom (from $68++), a nourishing soup comprising peach gum and a whole chicken. As kampung chicken is used, you can expect tender, fall-off-the-bone meat.
Live seafood is also served at the restaurant, including the Signature Steamed Cod Fish With Preserved Vegetables (seasonal price). This dish came with a silver cod fish displayed on a hot plate and was served with vinegar, peanuts, and chilli padi on the side. We were highly impressed by how melt-in-the-mouth the fish was.
There’s also the Wok-Fried Pork With Sweet & Sour Plum Sauce (from $28++), one of the eatery’s signature dishes that has been on the menu for ten years. This savoury-sweet dish sees pork belly marinated in a fermented bean curd sauce.Â
The Volcano Chicken ($68++) is another feast for the eyes; a whole oven-baked chicken is strung upright and doused with alcohol before being set on fire.
If you still have room for dessert, try the old-school Teochew Yam Paste With Gingko Nuts & Pumpkin ($8++), or the Sago Pudding With Gula Melaka ($8++) for something sweet and refreshing.
