FreakyCones: Popular Ice Cream Cafe In Chinatown With 4.9-Star Google Rating

FreakyCones is an ice cream and waffles cafe in Chinatown

If you’re like me and can’t go without dessert after a meal, then add FreakyCones to your list of must-visit dessert spots. Located in Chinatown, this popular cafe has an impressive 4.9-star Google rating with over 1K reviews, serving up ice cream and waffles, brownies and more. Better yet, they’re open till late every day!

FreakyCones offers an extensive range of ice cream, spanning over 15 flavours.

A Single scoop in a cup costs $6+, while a Double scoop costs $11+. Do note that Premium flavours cost $1+ more.

You can also get your ice cream in a Cone for an additional $1.50+. For something to share, we recommend getting their Waffles instead, available in three variations: plain Golden Waffles ($7.50+), Churro Waffles ($8.50+), and Nian Gao Waffles ($8.50+).

For their ice cream flavours, choose from the classic Cookies & Cream (from $6+) to specialty flavours, such as the Premium Matcha (from $7+) and Premium Sesame Mochi (from $7+).

The Premium Matcha ice cream had a creamy earthiness that paired well with the sweet Churro Waffles, made even better with a warm hint of cinnamon.

FYI, the waffles aren’t normally black and were only served as shown in the picture above, as we had them during their one-week Halloween special in October. You can expect the waffles to be a regular golden brown during your visit!

The Sesame Mochi ice cream was our favourite: a sticky-sweet delight with notes of roasted black sesame and chewy mochi bits throughout.

Sticking with the mochi theme, we got the Sesame Mochi ice cream with their Nian Gao Waffles.

It was perfectly crisp on the outside, while soft, fluffy, and stretchy on the inside.

For those who’d like something different from the usual ice cream and waffles combination, consider their Choco Lava Brownie ($8.50+).

Bite into this fudgy treat to reveal a gooey, molten core, perfect for any chocolate lover.

While seating is limited on the first floor, they’ve got a cosy dining area to chill at upstairs.

FreakyCones is conveniently located along South Bridge Road in Chinatown, a quick five-minute walk from Chinatown MRT Station and Telok Ayer MRT Station. They’re open till 12am from Sunday to Thursday and 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, making them a great option to satisfy any late-night dessert cravings.
