Ging Sun Ho King of Bun has a new hairy crab roe menu

It’s a great day to be an Eastie—Ging Sun Ho King of Bun is releasing an all-new Hairy Crab Roe menu. Available for a limited time only, this Singapore-exclusive launch can be enjoyed at their sole outlet in Tampines Mall.

Look forward to a selection of Shanghainese crab roe delicacies, ranging from the viral crab roe noodles to pan-fried buns and soup dumplings.

We kicked off our crab roe feast with their Signature Pan-Fried Golden Crab Roe Soup Buns (from $3.50++). Before we bit in, the staff warned us to take a small bite first, lest we get scalded by the hot soup inside. True enough, I was immediately hit with an explosion of rich, seafood juices.

Not only was it incredibly juicy, but it was also stuffed generously with pork and crab roe. The skin stayed soft on top and crispy at the bottom, though we wished it were thinner.
Do note that they sell limited quantities daily and there’s a minimum order of four pieces, so it’s best to come down early before they’re all gone.

Besides their classic sheng jian bao, we were instantly intrigued by the sheer size of the Golden Crab Roe Soup Dumpling ($4.90++). Appearance aside, savoury soup filled the dumpling to the brim, while its skin was impressively thin. Slurping up all the delicious crab roe with the straw was also a fun and shiok experience.

The highlight of the meal has got to be the Golden Crab Roe Noodles with Ginger Tea ($22.90++). The crab roe sauce was decadent and super umami. It complemented the silky noodles well, while the fragrant ginger tea helped to cut through the saltiness.

As the sauce is heated over a candle, it’s best to pour it over the noodles right away to keep it creamy and avoid any clumps.

The crab roe noodles fall under their House Specialty Combos, with their best-seller Scallion Oil Noodles with White Radish Soup going for just $9.90++. Another contender is the Soft-Boiled Egg Dan Dan Noodles ($14.90++), featuring a sesame broth with a nutty aroma and subtle spicy kick.
Each of the eight wallet-friendly combos comes with two appetisers, making it a bang for your buck.

Other add-ons are also available, including the iconic Pan-Fried Chicken Chop (S) ($3.90++) to complete your set. As a big fan of prawns, I highly recommend the River Shrimp Tempura (S) ($2.90++). Pair it with the Scallion Oil Noodles for an addictive crunch and seafood flavour.

To wash it all down, the Free Flow Drinks Bar gives you unlimited refills of three to four drinks for a top-up of only $0.99++.
