Great news for fans of the thorny king of fruits: Goodwood Park Hotel’s annual durian buffet is back! Running at the hotel’s Coffee Lounge until 21 July 2024, the buffet presents new pastry creations alongside all-time favourites featuring Mao Shan Wang and D24 durians. You can look forward to assorted durian-infused cakes, durian ice cream, and even durian pizza for this year’s lineup.
The durian buffet is priced at $65++ per adult and $39++ per child. It is available for dinner on Fridays, lunch on Sundays, and both lunch and dinner on Saturdays.
This year’s unique addition is the D24 Durianyaki, a playful twist on the Japanese street snack. The “takoyaki” comes with swirls of rich D24 mousse within house-made bite-sized profiteroles, garnished with coconut cream, green tea sponge crumble, and a drizzle of gula melaka sauce.
There’s also the Mini D24 Pengat in Green Tea Cone with Chicken Floss and the D24 Gula Melaka Kueh Dadar. The latter features a pillowy-soft crepe sweetened with gula melaka, generously filled with luscious durian paste.
During our visit, we also had the D24 Ice Cream Chendol Croffle, which was one of our favourites. Here, sweet durian ice cream sits atop a crispy mini croffle, topped with red beans, chendol jellies, and gula melaka sauce.
Another crowd favourite is the D24 Puff—creamy D24 mousse sandwiched between fluffy choux pastry cases.
We also enjoyed the D24 Sourdough Pizza With Spicy Chorizo & Mozzarella, a hearty pepperoni pizza slathered with luscious durian paste. Despite the unconventional combination, the sweetness of the durian paste and the savoriness of the pepperoni paired surprisingly well together.
Keep a lookout for Goodwood Park Hotel’s iconic Mao Shan Wang desserts too, specifically the ‘Mao Shan Wang’ Power Puff and ‘Mao Shan Wang’ Mousse Cake. Do note that these items will only be available from 1 May to 21 July 2024.
If you’d like something savoury to accompany the sweets, try Coffee Lounge’s Taiwan Porridge Set. Priced at $68++ for two people, the set menu includes Baby Squids in Sweet Oyster Sauce, Braised Pork with ‘Mui Choy’, and Fried Omelette with ‘Chye Poh’ among other Chinese dishes.
