Holland Village Food Centre recently reopened after three months of renovation works, and to tag on to that piece of good news is another: a second level of new stalls that are slated to open in the near future! Pop into the refurbished food centre, and you’ll find the same familiar level of stalls, and half a level down, towards the back, another spread of soon-to-open hawker stalls. Ming Fa Fishball Noodles is no stranger to the hawker scene, with 12 outlets islandwide. They’ve got a history that dates back to 1946, when they were a pushcart in a Chinatown alleyway hawking handmade fishballs and noodles. Today, their fishballs are still made fresh every day with 100% yellowtail fish paste, and no preservatives added.
Try a bowl of Fishball Noodle ($4/$5) to have a taste of Ming Fa’s famous fish balls. Otherwise, their Mushroom Minced Meat Noodle ($4.50/$5.50), AKA bak chor mee, is a popular choice too! Alternatively, there’s Meatball Noodle ($4.50/$5.50) and Chicken Chop Noodle ($4.50/$6) for heartier options.

It’s not a Holland Village Food Centre guide without listing Holland V Fried Bee Hoon as a stall to visit. This corner stall is open from 6am in the mornings and is typically sold out before lunch even starts. It’s no surprise to see a long queue of fans waiting in line for their economic bee hoon fix—bee hoon and noodles are priced at $1.20 or $1.50, depending on portion size, while add-ons include chicken wing ($1.40), chicken cutlet ($1.40), fish fillet ($0.90) and luncheon meat ($0.60).
