Kee Mei Siew Pow opens in MacPherson with famous siew bao
Good news: there’s no need to cross the border for your siew bao fix, as popular Malaysian brand Kee Mei Siew Pow has just opened a store in MacPherson.

The famous Seremban brand started in 1976 as a family business, before expanding to a company with over 200 distributors across Malaysia. They’re most known for their handmade siew bao, AKA shao bao, though they’ve also launched egg tarts and other traditional Chinese pastries over the years.

For the uninitiated, siew bao is a Malaysian-style pastry comprising a baked crust with a sweet and meaty barbecued pork filling. It somewhat resembles char siew sou, but is less flaky and comes in a bao form instead of a flat puff pastry.

The best-selling Pork Siew Bao is priced at $1.80. There’s an ongoing promotion where you can buy eight items and get one free.
According to an 8days.sg exclusive, the recipe is kept the same as the other outlets in Malaysia.

Other than siew bao, you can also expect a lineup of other baked goods, including Singapore-exclusive treats such as the Pork Siew Bao Puff ($2). This rendition swaps out the original crust for a flaky, layered puff pastry.

They also have Egg Tart (price TBD) and Portuguese Egg Tart (price TBD) that are buy-one-get-one-free for a limited time only.
