Kenny Rogers Roasters has a $28.90++ weekday buffet
I have fond memories of my grandfather taking my family out to lavish buffet lunches and dinners growing up. Since these buffets were usually in upscale hotels or malls, I never considered going to one without my grandparents; it just didn’t seem like something you would do on a whim. So when I saw a brochure for Kenny Rogers Roasters’ $28.90++ All-You-Can-Eat Buffet, I knew I had to check it out for myself—for nostalgia’s sake, and to see if buffets at such low prices were worth a visit.

Food at Kenny Rogers Roasters’ All-You-Can-Eat Buffet
In case you were wondering what the buffet entails, this is the deal: for 60 minutes from Monday to Friday, you can enjoy free-flow mains, sides, and drinks from the popular restaurant chain.Â
You can enjoy this buffet at four selected Kenny Rogers Roasters outlets, namely Sengkang Grand Mall, JEM, Marina Square, and Clementi Mall. Do note that this promotion is not available on the eve of and on public holidays.
When we arrived, we were handed a slip of paper to mark the dishes we wanted and how many of each. The buffet here looks a little different, though. Instead of picking your favourite dishes from a massive buffet table, where diners typically queue in line to get what they want, each serving is prepared fresh upon request from the front kitchen.Â
My colleague and I went straight for their famous Rotisserie-Roasted Chicken. The meat is slow-roasted to seal all the flavourful juices and remove excess fat.Â
Taste-wise, we really enjoyed the well-marinated skin and tender meat within. We also liked that the portion was quite generous, hearty enough to satisfy one or even two people per quarter chicken.
If you feel like the chicken is a little too dry, here’s a tip: douse the piece generously with the smoky Black Pepper Sauce or Smoky Brown Sauce provided. And if you need more, don’t be shy and just ask!
If you prefer your chicken fried to roasted, the Crispy Golden Chicken is for you. This is available in both Original and Spicy options! Fresh chicken is steeped in a secret mix of citrus, herbs, and spices before it’s deep-fried upon order till golden brown and crispy.
At first blush, the chicken looked a tad underwhelming as only one of each flavour was served. But it only took us a bite to realise we were too quick to judge a book by its cover: the crispy skin gave each bite a satisfying crunch, while the juices oozed into our mouths. Even after sitting out for a while, the skin held its crunch surprisingly well, almost as if it had just come out of the kitchen.
Proteins aside, the buffet boasts a total of 13 sides, including Macaroni Salad, Mashed Potatoes, Onion Rings, and Nasi Lemak Rice.
A collective favourite was the Potato Salad. The medley of ingredients was delicious: chopped red bell pepper, spring onion, onion, and mushy potato. I liked that there were lots of veggies in the salad as they helped quell the heavy flavours.
The Macaroni Salad was nothing like we’ve seen before, as it consisted of conchiglie in cream sauce, mixed with diced rock melon and even nata de coco cubes, for a winning combination of sweet and savoury flavours.
Moving on to warm dishes, the famous sweet-savoury Corn Muffin had legit corn kernels within the pastry. Taste-wise, it was light, buttery, and mildly sweet.
Speaking of corn, their Corn Niblets gave us a good break from all the creamy dishes, though we wished it was slightly sauteed for extra fragrance.
My personal favourite out of all the sides I tried was the Mashed Potatoes. Though a simple dish, I found myself wolfing the entire bowl down in no time, as the gravy was fragrant, with just the right amount to complement the huge scoop of mashed potato.
We were slightly disappointed by the Macaroni & Cheese, though, as there weren’t any other ingredients in the dish other than the pasta itself. But that’s not to say that it wasn’t worth a try, as we felt that the dish was creamy without being cloying, and the cheese wasn’t pungent or overwhelmingly strong.
Unfortunately, there was not much to shout about the Coleslaw, Onion Rings, Garden Salad, and Sauteed Vegetables. But if you’re looking for a well-rounded meal, the buffet offers these fibre-rich options!
We appreciated that the Mushroom Soup had a thick consistency and wasn’t diluted at all, like many other versions we’ve had elsewhere. It was served with diced garlic bread, which we thought added a nice textural variety to the dish.
To wash down the grease, enjoy free-flow soft drinks such as Coca-Cola, Lemon Tea, and Sprite as part of the buffet deal. Alternatively, you can top up $3++ for a wider selection of spritzers, including Cooling Mango and Cooling Green Apple.Â
Otherwise, pay an extra $5++ for unlimited servings of desserts, featuring Chocolate Lava Cake with Ice Cream, Belgian Waffle with Ice Cream and Chocolate Sauce and more!
Ambience at Kenny Rogers Roasters
Kenny Rogers Roasters’ Marina Square outlet is located near the food court on the second floor. Though we visited at lunchtime, the restaurant remained pretty empty, so you don’t have to wait long to secure a good seat.Â
The 55-seater restaurant is adorned with wooden tables, exuding a warm, cosy atmosphere. The restaurant also had a long crimson red sofa, which made us feel like we were dining in a quaint American diner.
Kenny Rogers Roasters Buffet – Eatbook review
We found there were a few too many cream-based dishes and would have appreciated more variety. That said, the spread was more than generous for the price paid. I’d definitely go back again the next time I’m near a Kenny Rogers Roasters!
