Nestled in the heart of Joo Chiat, Kopikhoo is the latest addition to the neighbourhood. This hole-in-the-wall takeaway coffee shop offers espresso, lattes and more from just $3.50.Â
Though the newly opened coffee shop is tucked away in a landed property estate, finding the shop wasn’t difficult. We followed the video directions on their Facebook page, walking past the colourful Peranakan shophouses before turning into the alley in front of Haig Girls’ School, where a green Kopikhoo banner led us to the shop just 20 steps ahead. The area’s colourful shophouses, ornate tiles, and vibrant murals made our trip more than just a coffee run!
Upon our arrival at the shop, we were greeted by an old lady who took our orders with a warm smile. She asked for our names, and proceeded to brew our orders.Â
Kopikhoo has a rather straightforward menu, with hot drinks including Americano, Double Espresso, Latte, and Cappuccino for $3.50. They also serve their Babycino at $3. Their cold serves include Iced Americano ($3.50), Iced Latte ($4), and Iced Caramel Latte ($4.50).
We tried their Iced Latte ($4), which features a standard portion of a single espresso shot in a nice plastic cup. The coffee blend was slightly more acidic than what we expected, but the milk balanced it out nicely.Â
We also tried their Iced Caramel Latte ($4.50), which was (obviously) sweeter than the latte. After a good mix, the caramel flavour came out pretty strong and complemented the acidity of the coffee well.
And so if you’re looking for a novel coffee experience, be sure to drop by Kopikhoo to see what the fuss is all about. For more interesting food in the area, check out our Joo Chiat food guide. For queue-worthy croissants in the Joo Chiat area by an ex-artisan, read our Petit Pain review!
