When Lady M first landed on Singapore shores in 2013, it kickstarted a widespread craze for crepe cakes and got dessert lovers yearning for their delicate confections. Since launching their first store at Marina Square, Lady M now boasts five outlets islandwide, including boutiques at Jewel Changi and Orchard Central. Whether you’re a big fan of Lady M or are new to the fandom, here is our list of five best Lady M cakes to try the next time you’re wondering what to get for dessert.
The Signature Lady M Mille Crepe ($13++ per slice, $120++ for a 9-inch cake) is one of the brand’s most famous cakes for a few reasons. Besides being the OG mille crepe cake that sent Singaporeans into a frenzy when the boutique first launched, it is also arguably one of the most delicious. This cake features a light pastry cream sandwiched between 20 layers of thin, handmade crepe layers. The cake’s top layer is gently caramelised until a bright golden for a tinge of sweetness.
Following the success of the signature crepe, the Green Tea Mille Crepe ($13++ per slice, $120++ for a 9-inch cake) proved to be yet another customer favourite, with the same light pastry cream infused with fine green tea powder. Fans of matcha will love the mildly sweet green tea flavour with an ever-so-slight bitter aftertaste.
If you love the classic Strawberry Shortcake, Lady M’s version of it is worth a try. At $13++ a slice and $140++ for a 9-inch cake, the Strawberry Shortcake is made using Japanese flour, which results in a soft, spongy texture. The cake is also topped with strawberry slices for extra sweetness, with some strawberry chunks being added in between the cake’s milky, vanilla-flavoured layers.
The Pistachio Mille Crepe ($13++ per slice, $140++ for a 9-inch cake) is a good pick for those who love nutty flavours. It is also one of the brand’s newer confections; it sees velvety pistachio pastry cream infused into the crepe layers and topped with crushed pistachios. Customers have mentioned that the pistachio flavour is on the mild side, with the cake itself being light and creamy.
Aptly named Checkers ($12++ per slice, $130++ for 9-inch cake), this Lady M signature features a striking black and white design. It’s a vanilla and chocolate sponge cake outfitted in a silky, dark chocolate ganache. A must-try for chocolate lovers, the cake also comes with whipped cream tucked between the squares for hints of sweetness.
