Here’s a piece of good news for Easties: Legendary Hong Kong is setting up shop at Tampines Mall soon! The popular Hong Kong cafe currently has two outlets in the West, Rochester Commons and Jurong Point, making this upcoming restaurant its first East-side opening.

For the uninitiated, Legendary Hong Kong is a popular cha chaan teng that was founded in 2014 due to a lack of authentic Hong Kong fare in Singapore. The owners brought in eight chefs from Hong Kong to curate the menu for their restaurants.

Regulars love their French Toast HK Style (price TBD): thick slabs of crispy and eggy toast served with a slab of butter and syrup. Other renditions include peanut butter, egg custard, and ham and cheese.

The Mini Egg Tarts ($5.50++) are not too missed, too. These old-school treats feature a buttery pastry encasing a smooth and sweet egg custard middle.

Of course, you’ll find a wide range of dim sum classics here. Highlights include Steamed Shrimp Dumplings ($7.50++) AKA har gow, and Steamed Pork Dumplings ($6.80++) AKA siew mai.

For freshly steamed buns, you won’t go wrong with a basket of Steamed BBQ Pork Bun ($5.50++) or Lava Egg Custard Bun ($5.80++): pillowy bao bursting with a molten salted egg yolk filling.

If you love a good plate of HK-style fried carrot as much as we do, order a plate of Sauteed Turnip Cake with XO Sauce ($8.80++) to share. This staple features turnip cake cubes that are steamed then fried with eggs and umami-packed XO sauce.

If this new Tampines Mall restaurant has the same menu as their Jurong Point flagship, diners can expect roast meats and noodles too! We’ll update this article once we get more information.
