Following the success of its two local eateries—Fortuna Terrazza Cafe and Fortuna Italian Pizza & Pasta Restaurant—Fortuna Group has unveiled its third and newest concept: Medusa Italian Osteria Romana.

As Singapore’s first-ever osteria romana, AKA a casual Roman eatery focused on whipping up comforting dishes, this new Italian restaurant serves authentic Italian cuisine like its sister restaurants, but diners can expect a completely different vibe when they step inside.

Paying homage to Rome’s vintage luxury era, the restaurant’s bold crimson walls, dazzling LED lights, and cheeky portraits transport diners back in time to a glamorous Roman supper club. With both indoor and outdoor dining accommodating up to 76 people, it provides a vibrant setting for various occasions.

But Medusa is more than just its aesthetics. Helmed by Federico Burci, Fortuna Group’s General Manager, the restaurant features a wide range of simple yet hearty Italian fare, all presented with a contemporary twist.

Get a taste of Italy with its quintessential Roman dish, Fettuccine ($36++), featuring egg fettuccine pasta tossed in Italian butter and Pecorino Romano, the famously salty Italian cheese. Another of their signature pastas is the Caserecce ($35++), a heavy, substantial dish nicknamed “the dirty one” in the Roman dialect, which combines elements of carbonara, amatriciana, and cacioe pepe. For the best of both worlds, diners can also opt for the II Divorzio Half and Half Pasta for an additional $10++, which includes two flavours in one order.

At the restaurant’s pizza station, dough master Giorgio Sorce delivers a traditional Roman take on pizza. Instead of the classic Neapolitan style,  the restaurant offers two versions—the thin-crust Pizza Romana (from $29++) and the crunchier Pinsa Romana (from $20++ for two slices). Toppings range from Margherita and Pomodoro & Ciccia to Gircia, inspired by the foundational Roman pasta mixed with guanciale, pecorino, and black pepper.

An Italian meal is incomplete without dessert, and the restaurant’s Truffle Tiramisu ($18++) and Torta della Nonna ($18++), a homely “grandmother’s cake”, are worth saving room for.

The restaurant is located within JW Marriott Hotel along South Beach Road, which is located directly opposite Suntec City, or a quick five-minute walk from Esplanade MRT. Reservations are available via their website.
