With 18 new restaurants making their debut in Singapore this month, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to picking a spot for your next meal. From authentic Neapolitan pizzas brought to our shores by a celebrated pizzeria in Italy, to cai fan in a nightclub and famous Japanese Wagyu ramen, here are the new restaurants in Singapore to check out this May 2024.


1. Udders Novena


Udders has reopened their Novena outlet, now with an interior facelift and a new logo design! Get your dessert cravings satisfied with their ever-expanding selection of ice cream flavours. We tried this month’s new Milo Dinosaur ($4.80 single scoop) ice cream and loved the deep chocolatey taste. 

Also available in Udders Novena is the Emperor Mao ($10.80 single scoop), which is touted for being one of the most intense durian-flavoured ice creams in Singapore. Apparently, they use Mao Shan Wang durians from a special orchard in Pahang. We liked that fresh chunks of the funky fruit made up 50% of each scoop.

2. Oni Kimbap x O.BBa Jjajang Express


Previously a home-based business, Oni Kimbap has finally opened a physical stall at Taste Orchard! Now you can try their famous Bulgogi Riceless Kimbap ($12.90). This has rolls of fried eggs in place of rice, which is stuffed with sweet and savoury stir-fried pork and fresh vegetables.

This stall is opened in collaboration with O.BBa Jjajang Express. If just gimbap is not enough to fill you up,  you can have a complete meal here by ordering their popular Chicken Jjajangmyeon ($11), where you get their famous black bean noodle with a succulent piece of fried chicken leg.

3. Creamier x Frying Fish Club


Creamier in East Coast has updated their menu! This is in collaboration with Frying Fish Club, a restaurant that specialises in Japanese-style fish and chips. The outlet-exclusive menu features Fried Fish & Creamier Golden Waffles ($23.50), a twist on the conventional chicken and waffles. You get two pieces of fried white tuna, coated in a tempura-like batter, giving it a light crispiness.

The collab extends to the drinks too! Highlights include the housemade Strawberry Cucumber Iced Tea ($6.50) and Lavender Mint Ramune ($6.50)—a flavoured sparkling lemonade. They also have local craft beers by Brewlander on tap. We got the Bored & Boozy Salted Plum ($14 a pint), which was smooth, refreshing and subtly sour.

4. Monks Brew Club


There’s another work-friendly cafe for Easties to patronise: Monk’s Brew Club has opened in Joo Chiat, offering hearty brunch, dinner, and coffee-spiked cocktails. The spacious interior is decked out in vibrant splashes of green and pink, comfy sofas for relaxation, and smaller tables for getting work done.

The brunch menu features affordable mains, including the Rainbow Pancake ($22), Lucky One Cereal ($20), and Salmon Avo Toast ($20). We recommend the Falafel Fusion Burger ($22): house-made brioche buns, fresh falafel patty, grilled basil oregano, kale pesto, and paneer cottage cheese. It also comes with crispy fries or salad on the side.

It’s never too early for cocktails, so have a crack at their Eye Opener ($20), a boozy concoction comprising coffee-infused rum with coffee syrup. You can also try the Senor Curry ($20), which features tequila infused with curry leaves.

5. The Gyu Bar


Beef specialty restaurant The Gyu Bar has introduced nine new dishes exclusively available for dine-in, set to refresh quarterly. Dig into Japanese fusion fare including Wagyu & Mizuna ‘Salad’ ($38++) and Deep-fried Wagyu Cha Gio ($18++). Inspired by Vietnamese spring rolls, the latter features minced Kagoshima Wagyu and chopped prawns paired with a sweet house-made chilli sauce.

Japchae lovers can have a crack at the Stir-Fried Wagyu Konnyaku Noodles ($28++). Here, tender slices of Kagoshima Wagyu are sautéed alongside springy konnyaku noodles, topped with shimeji mushrooms and crispy garlic chips. Don’t miss the visually appealing Spicy Pumpkin Wagyu Nabe ($48++) too. Served with a fire underneath it, this dish comprises a flavourful broth steeped with fish, chicken, Wagyu, and mashed Japanese pumpkin.

6. Tipsy Flamingo Sunday Champagne Brunch


Tipsy Flamingo is the place to be on the last Sunday of every month! For $88++ per person, their Sunday Champagne Brunch offers free-flow Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut accompanied by cheese platters, a DIY Caesar Salad station, and a selection of canapes from 12pm to 3pm. 

Delectable pastries are also available, including the Yuzu Black Sesame Cake, Red Velvet Cake, and Chocolate Hazelnut Tart. Young diners aged four to 10 years old are welcome to join at a special price of $38++ too!

7. Mashi no Mashi


Mashi no Mashi, renowned for its Japanese Wagyu ramen, has arrived in Bugis’ Guoco Midtown. Originating from the mastermind behind Japan’s famed Wagyumafia, Hisato Hamada, Mashi no Mashi is the first Southeast Asian foray for the Japanese brand. The menu here is all about Wagyu ramen, so diners can expect rich, almost buttery ramen broth paired with al dente noodles and—most importantly—slices of tender Wagyu.

While the Ultra Wagyu Ramen ($22++) is the classic offering here, we suggest getting the beefy, umami Wagyu Tsukemen ($30++) instead. Here, you get thick ramen noodles to dip in a 24-hour stewed Wagyu bone broth, paired with slices of slow-cooked Ozaki beef. If you’re not feeling like noodles that day, go for their Singapore-inspired Wagyu Bak Kut Teh ($30++), which reinvents the local classic with Wagyu ribs instead of pork.

8. New Station Rice Bar


Far East Plaza’s New Station Snack Bar is quite the legendary eating house thanks to being one of the OG places where you can get salted egg pork rib rice. The family-run restaurant now has a ‘sister outlet’ in Fortune Centre, run by Chloe, the daughter of the duo that runs the Orchard Road flagship. 

Named New Station Rice Bar, the eatery has all of the things you know and love from New Station Snack Bar, including the delicious Salted Egg Pork Rice ($8.50), as well as some novel zi char items. One dish we were highly recommended was the Braised Shiitake Mushroom Rice ($9), where super savoury, umami shiitake mushrooms are served with steamed broccoli and white rice—not the most elaborate dish, but super delicious.

9. Mr Mookata Plus

Sathaneemeehoi, the viral Thai mookata restaurant known for having scantily-clad Thai “hunks” as waiters, is now in Singapore! Named  Mr Mookata Plus, this hyped-up mookata spot will be located along Tanglin Road. Instead of Thai waiters, however, diners can expect beefy Singaporean serving staff instead.

Mookata ingredients start from $1.70++ per plate here, but we suggest going straight for the buffet, available at $29.90++. To that, add the Lala Hotpot Base, where you get a briney clam soup to dip all your ingredients in. Note that there’s a 90-minute dining limit, so make sure you order what you can finish in that time!

10. Slurp Mee


Instant noodle cafes are a familiar concept in Korea, but not so much in Singapore. That is until Slurp Mee arrived in the Farrer Park ‘hood. They are Singapore’s first instant noodle cafe concept, with over 70 different flavours of instant ramen available.

You start off by choosing your instant noodle base, priced from $3.50 a la carte, or you can also grab a set meal from $7.90. The latter is definitely more worth the money, as you get three toppings of your choice, from corn to Japanese fishcakes, and a can of soft drink. After you pay, head over to one of the automated cooking machines to prep your ramen order on the spot. Once you’re done, head over to the cosy dine-in space to dig in.

11. Daily Beer

Daily Beer is a beloved fried chicken and craft beer franchise in South Korea. With over 370 outlets across the country, the eatery is so popular that it’s even a celeb fave, with fans including EXO’s Xiumin and the cast of SBS’ Running Man. ICYMI, they’ve just opened their first-ever overseas branch in Singapore, located in Telok Ayer.

Diners can dive into a wide range of flavours from their signature Angry Bird fried chicken, which is priced from $27.90++ for a 600g serving. Pair that with some Korean street food eats, from Semi-fried Squid with Peanuts ($28++) to Spam Fries ($16++). Don’t miss out on their exclusive craft beers on tap, including the Kampong Pilsner ($14++) and K-Ginseng Lager ($13++).

12. Tom’s Palette


Tom’s Palette, one of Singapore’s iconic ice cream cafes, has a new outlet in Kovan. Here, diners can expect a gallery-style cafe, where walls are lined with yellow-toned paintings, alongside warm wood furnishings. 

Aside from their extensive array of unique ice cream flavours, diners can expect all-new dessert options, such as King Pin Cone ($7.80), a coconut milk gelato served in a putu mayam cone, topped with red jaggery sugar.

13. L’antica Pizzeria da Michele


Originating from Naples and tracing its roots back to 1870, L’antica Pizzeria da Michele is where it’s at for authentic, rustic Neopolitan pizza. They have finally opened a new outlet in Singapore’s Club Street, so you won’t have to travel to Europe to try them out.

While their Italian outlet has just two pizza flavours, diners can expect an extensive selection of 17 options in their Singaporean restaurant. Start off with the classic Margherita ($28++), topped with ingredients all imported from Italy, from the tomato sauce to the Pecorino Romano DOP, Agerola fior di latte (fresh mozzarella), and fresh basil. Another one of our favourites is the Cetara ($34++), where the Margherita gets enhanced with Cetara anchovies, Leccino olives, and capers.

14. Paik’s Noodle


Popular jjajangmyeon restaurant Paik’s Noodle caused quite a stir when they first opened in Suntec City last year, and since then, they’ve announced two new restaurants in Waterway Point and Tiong Bahru Plaza.

Get your hands on their iconic Jajang Myeon ($11+), where handmade noodles are topped with a shiok savoury black bean sauce. Save some stomach space for their Jjamppong ($14+), a delicious spicy seafood stew, and their Tang Suyuk (from $21+), where pillowy fried pork ribs are tossed in a sweet and sour sauce.
