Off Day Cafe: Matcha Basque Cheesecake And Brunch Under $10 In JB

Off Day Cafe is a popular brunch cafe in Eco Botanic JB

If you love cafe hopping in JB as much as we do, you’ll want to visit this cafe. Off Day Cafe is located in Eco Botanic, an area home to plenty of trendy cafes, so you can take your time hopping your way through each of them. Plus, this cafe is also located a five-minute drive away from Legoland!

The menu is pretty extensive with several brunch, pasta, and dessert options. Options include the Salmon Egg Benedict (RM33+), Shakshuka with Egg (RM21+) and Truffle Alfredo Pasta (RM32+).

Based on online reviews, the Classic French Toast ($23+) is a hit among customers so we gave that a try. This dish features fluffy brioche french toast with sliced banana, berries, and slabs of streaky beef bacon. We found that the various sweet and savoury components worked perfectly together.

My colleague and I are big on matcha, so we had to get a slice of the Matcha Burnt Cheesecake (RM21+), made with Niko Neko matcha powder. The cake was a good balance of bittersweet matcha and savoury cream cheese, with a smoky undertone from the charred exterior.

The cafe uses Niko Neko powders, a popular premium tea brand from Malaysia, for their Matcha and Hojicha (RM14+ each). But we found that the drinks were on the milky side, and would have appreciated a stronger matcha and hojicha to flavour.

If matcha is not for you, there are also several coffee choices such as the classic Flat White (RM12+/RM13+), as well as Single Origin (RM16+) and Seasonal (RM21+) filtered coffee options.

For more JB cafe recommendations, check out Slow Day Cafe, a cafe specialising in matcha drinks and desserts. Otherwise, read our 2-day JB food itinerary for loaded bagels, zi char feasts, and more.
