Japanese Parfait Desserts Spotted At Don Don Donki, With Choco Mint And Strawberry Cheesecake Flavours

Parfait desserts from Japan at Don Don Donki

Anyone who has been to Japan can attest to the popularity of parfait desserts there. These eye-catching towers come with anything from ice cream, to whipped cream, fruit, biscuits, and even sponge cake, all layered to create a medley of flavours and textures that scream, “sugar rush”. While we can’t travel to Japan at the moment to get our hands on these parfaits, thankfully, Don Don Donki has brought in a famed premade version from Japan.

Branded literally as “Parfait Desserts“, these desserts-in-cups are available for $6.90 each, in four flavours. Unlike most ice creams in a cup you get from convenience stores, these desserts star proper, rich and creamy ice creams, and flavourful toppings—it’s almost as if you made your own sundae.

There is Chocolate & Vanilla, composed with alternating layers of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, chocolate cookie, then topped with a cocoa cookie crumble and chocolate sauce.

Those who prefer fruity ice cream can try the Strawberry Cheesecake, where vanilla and cheesecake flavoured ice cream are sandwiched with cheesecake and strawberry sauce.

Vanilla with Mixed Nuts is one to try for fans of peanut butter and caramel, as vanilla ice cream and cream comes stacked above layers of peanut, hazelnut, and caramel. This was our least favourite of the bunch, as the ice cream turned the peanuts slightly soggy.

Finally, there’s Mint Chocolate, a medley of mint chocolate chip and milk ice cream with chocolate chips, topped with chocolate sauce and cocoa cookies.

There are other flavours of this dessert in Japan, but they are currently unavailable in Singapore at the moment. If you’d like to try these Parfait Desserts, spot them at the frozen section of your nearest Don Don Donki outlet. The Japanese supermarket chain has recently opened in Tampines, with 10 other outlets islandwide.
