Puzzle Coffee Opens Cafe In Dempsey With New All-Day Menu

Puzzle Coffee opens flagship store at Dempsey Hill

Get ready, coffee aficionados—popular Melbourne roaster Puzzle Coffee is opening their second store! Following the success of their debut at ION Orchard in November 2022, Puzzle Coffee’s second location will open their doors to patrons on 30 September 2024 at Dempsey Hill. This would also be their flagship store, serving exclusive items that are unavailable at their OG outlet.

Puzzle Coffee sources top-tier, fairly traded speciality coffee beans from around the world and roasts them in-house. Their coffee is roasted weekly and shipped fresh directly from Melbourne!

The Dempsey Hill store introduces an exclusive all-day menu with both local and international dishes. For starters, prepare to be impressed by their signature Buttermilk Pancakes ($25++). These thick, super fluffy pancakes are layered with a mixed berry compote between three generous stacks. Adorned with a variety of fresh fruits, this decadent dish is further enhanced by zesty lemon curd, a creamy cheesecake mousse with hints of citrus and vanilla, and a dollop of whipped cream.

Alternatively, choose their Chia Seed Pudding ($17++). This dish begins with almond milk infused with chai leaves, creating a delicately flavourful base. Chia seeds and pitted dates are blended in, resulting in a creamy pudding with a satisfying chew. Topped with dragonfruit sorbet, toasted coconut flakes, and fresh fruits, it’s a refreshing option for any time of the day.

If you prefer a lighter starter, consider their Thai Mango Salad ($24++), inspired by the classic som tam.

For a classic sandwich experience, their Reuben Toastie ($20++) is a must-try. This hearty dish features tender, house-cooked beef brisket slow-cooked for over five hours, paired with tangy sauerkraut and rich gruyère cheese, all nestled between slices of light rye sourdough bread. A touch of Dijon mustard adds a flavourful kick that perfectly complements the other ingredients.

For something more fiery, indulge in their Chili Scrambled Eggs ($26++), where fluffy scrambled eggs sit atop grilled sourdough toast, spread with a layer of tangy house-made chilli jam. Made from scratch with fresh tomatoes, chilli peppers, and a blend of spices, the jam is simmered to achieve the perfect balance of heat and sweetness. Crumbled goat cheese and diced jalapeno add an extra punch of flavour and texture.

Other satisfying options include their Big Breakfast ($36++), Grass Fed Wagyu Beef Burger ($29++), and Crispy Calamari ($26++).

For a savoury choice, try their Prawn Linguine ($30++). The sauce is a delightful blend of slow-cooked capers, chilli, dill, and cherry tomatoes, enhanced with a splash of white wine and butter for a rich depth of flavour. Five succulent, perfectly seared prawns rest atop a bed of pasta.

End your meal with their Matcha Lava Cake ($22++), a delightful fusion of two beloved flavours. Baked with almond flour for a denser, richer texture, the cake features a molten centre of vibrant green matcha ganache that beautifully contrasts with the chocolate cake. It’s then topped with a generous sprinkle of chocolate crumble and a scoop of refreshing matcha ice cream for extra decadence.

Alternatively, go for their Brown Sugar Boba Cake ($21++), featuring a light hojicha chiffon cake topped with a generous dollop of cream, all resting on a rich, crumbly chocolate base. It comes with a side of warm brown sugar boba pearls for an added treat.

No trip to Puzzle Coffee is complete without trying its signature drinks! Alongside a variety of espresso-based options, the Melbourne Magic ($6++) stands out with its double ristretto shot, providing a concentrated burst of flavour with less milk to highlight the coffee’s natural sweetness.

Non-coffee drinkers will find plenty to enjoy, including speciality beverages like a velvety Hot Chocolate (from $6.50++), an earthy Matcha Latte (from $6.50++), and the unique Biscoff Latte (from $6.50++), featuring notes of caramelised biscuits. There are also refreshing iced drinks such as Strawberry Matcha (from $6.50++).

To celebrate their grand opening, Puzzle Coffee is rolling out two exciting promotions from 30 September 2024 to 13 October 2024. Enjoy 1-for-1 on all coffee and iced drinks, and take advantage of a 10% discount on all food items.
