Fans of The Better Scoop have something new to look forward to! Ri Ri Cha, started by the same folks behind the famous ice cream cafe, has opened its doors in Chinatown, along Sago Street.

This new dessert concept stars The Better Scoop’s signature Nian Gao Waffle, tea-infused ice cream flavours, and artisanal tea-centric beverages.

For a satisfying dessert, go straight for their best-selling Nian Gao Waffle with Two Scoops ($15.80).

This unique, Asian-inspired waffle comes with bits of chewy, sticky rice cake that mimics the effect of stretchy mochi. Taste-wise, it’s said to be slightly sweet with a hint of brown sugar from the nian gao. The waffle is also available on its own at $6.80. If you’re not a fan of nian gao, there’s a plain waffle option priced at $6.

For your ice cream, choose from tea-centric flavours including Osmanthus Oolong, Lychee Black Tea, Matcha Butterfly Pea Soy, and Tie Guan Yin. It’s priced at $5.50 per scoop. There’s even an intriguing Pi Pa Gao Latte with Peach Gum ($7) for those who want something creamy yet refreshing.

Don’t forget to try their Sticky Red Date Cake with Ice Cream ($8) too. This pretty dessert comes in a dim sum basket, so get your phone ready to snap the perfect shot for your ‘gram!

Ri Ri Cha is a short three-minute walk from Chinatown or Maxwell MRT Station. It’s a cosy space with limited seats indoors, and some tables outside to accommodate the weekend crowd.

For more food in the hood, check out our Danlao review, where you’ll find affordable scrambled eggs on rice at the nearby Maxwell Food Centre! Otherwise, another under-the-radar spot to head to is Small Bites, a waffle and curry puff kiosk right outside Maxwell MRT Station.

Address: 24 Sago Street, Singapore 059020
