Silk: Popular Hong Kong Bubble Tea Chain Opens In Somerset With Free-Flow Cheese Foam

Silk opens at Orchard Gateway with popular Hong Kong bubble tea

Yes, you saw the header right: Silk, a popular bubble tea chain from Hong Kong, has opened their doors in Singapore at Orchard Gateway in Somerset! The store also offers free-flow cheese foam, which you can redeem within 30 minutes of your order.

Silk offers Hong Kong’s unique take on bubble tea, featuring a bolder, richer tea flavour compared to the typical Taiwanese versions, which tend to be milkier. Other than milk tea, the brand also has a huge selection of cold brew, fruit tea, and cheese-foam drinks made with high-quality ingredients.

One standout item is the Yuen-Yueng Reimagined ($8.90), which is the yuan yang we know and love, but made with Hong Kong-style milk tea instead of the usual teh we’re familiar with. The drink is then topped with a rich layer of cheese foam and finished with a creme brulee cap for an indulgent twist.

With all the added sweetness from the d creme brulee, the recommended sweetness level for this drink is 30% to 50%. FYI: Most of Silk’s drinks are sweetened with longan honey instead of white sugar!

Another must-try drink is the Smooth King ($7.50). This creamy and hearty blend features Hong Kong-style milk tea with boba, generously topped with a rich layer of cheese foam and crunchy honeycomb. For this particular drink, white sugar is used to sweeten the drink to balance and enhance the overall flavour profile of the milk tea.

To savour, dig into the thick layer of cheese foam and relish the crunchy honeycomb first. And don’t fret if you finish the cheese foam before you finish your drink—Silk offers complimentary top-ups within 30 minutes of your purchase!

For a refreshing twist, don’t miss the Smooth Queen ($6.80), a Singapore-exclusive beverage. It features Hong Kong-style lemon tea infused with pandan, calamansi, lemongrass, and fresh mint. The sweet and sour lemon tea is complemented by a subtle lemongrass flavour, adding depth to the overall profile.

If you love fruit teas, be sure to try the Starburst ($7). This cooling drink combines Four Seasons tea, which is lighter than the usual black tea, with refreshing apple, grapefruit, fruit sorbet, orange, and agar crystals for a burst of flavour in every sip.

For a heartier, dessert-like option, try the Cheese Cloud Mango ($7.50). This creamy drink features jasmine tea paired with fresh mango and topped with creamy cheese foam. It’s like enjoying a mango cheesecake in a cup, with a subtle hint of jasmine!

If you’ve made it this far, we have some great news. To celebrate their grand opening, Silk is offering an exclusive 1-for-1 deal on all drinks forour readers. To redeem, simply present the code “EatBookB1G1” and follow @silk.sgp and @silk.hk at the time of purchase. This discount code will be valid from now till 12 November 2024.
