Singapore Food Festival 2021 Has Food Tours, Masterclasses With Michelin-Starred Chefs, And More To Excite Your Inner Foodie

Singapore Food Festival 2021

Singaporeā€™s longest-running food festival is back! After taking it virtual last year due to COVID-19 constraints, this yearā€™s fiesta, which will run from 27 August to 12 September, sees a mix of in-person and online events. From masterclasses with stars from the local culinary scene, to food tours taking you around the island and more, Singapore Food Festival 2021 celebrates our vibrant food culture once more.

Now in its 28th year, the Singapore Food Festival is an annual hallmark event of the local F&B scene that recognises the best that Singaporeā€™s culinary scene has to offer, from heritage hawkers to fine-dining nosh, and food-centric tours thatā€™ll bring you on a journey through Singaporeā€™s culinary cultures and history.

If itā€™s food-themed events that interest you, look forward to dining and drinking your way around historic neighbourhoods, or hopping on a trishaw to discover Clarke Quayā€™s scintillating past, with a durian picnic in tow. Otherwise, take a boat trip around Singaporeā€™s Southern Islands with Keong Saik Bakery, or go glamping with local kueh-kuehs!Ā

This year, take your pick from 18 different masterclasses conducted by some of Singaporeā€™s most celebrated chefsā”from award-winning Singapore greats to rising superstars who are making waves.Ā

Nine of these are paid masterclasses, inclusive of ingredient kits delivered to your doorstep if you choose to attend virtually. These masterclasses will also be available for public viewing on the SFF Facebook page 24 hours after the class!

Pick up kitchen tips in sustainable cooking from masters such as Chef Drew Nocente of Salted & Hung, whoā€™ll be presenting his elevated rendition of Barramundi Fish Soup. Watch Chef Nocente as he prepares the dish, whilst sharing notes on how home cooks can maximise their ingredients, and reduce waste while cooking.Ā

Consider also the Two Men And A Bottle masterclass, led by Chef Eric Neo, who will demonstrate how he layers flavours of a classic Ayam Buah Keluak with liberal dashes of Martell Noblige Cognac. Good things donā€™t come alone, because this bundle also includes a Martell-based cocktail designed by mixologist Peter Chua from Junior The Pocket Bar!Ā

If youā€™re more into baking, join Pastry Chef Mohammad Al-Matin, former Pastry Sous Chef at Noma and personality behind hot-selling Le Matin Patisserie. Get your hands dirty as you bake a SFF-exclusive Goreng Pisang Parfait in this cookalong session.

For more flexibility on time, ingredient bundles or food kits for the nine free-to-view masterclasses are available for purchase on the Singapore Food Festival 2021 e-shop till 19 September, so you can join in the fun at your own leisure, with all the ingredients prepped and delivered to you.

Here, you can look forward to taking notes from Chef Rishi Naleendra, Michelin-starred chef-restaurateur behind concepts such as Cloudstreet and CHEEK Bistro, as he shares stories of the commonalities behind the spices of Singapore and his native Sri Lanka. Sup on Devilled Prawn Curry and Poricha Erachi, or fried beef cheek in sweet tamarind, chilli, and limeā”a dish that he has created specially for Singapore Food Festival 2021.

Other events you can look forward to include an ice cream and cocktail pairing workshop, held in partnership with the Museum of Ice Cream (MOIC). The pop-up is one of this yearā€™s hottest attractions, brought in direct from USA. Make your very own Hendrickā€™s-based cocktail at this workshop, and find its ice cream match!

Also on the cards are other fringe events such as a Hawker Festival featuring some of Singaporeā€™s best-loved hawkers, kueh-making workshops, and Secret Supper club weekends, where your dining experiences, specially curated by restaurants in one of Singaporeā€™s cultural ā€˜hoods, will be decided by the throw of a dice. Hereā€™s the kickerā”the menus are a secret.

Be one of the first 100 participants to spend $150 at Singapore Food Festival 2021 through the SFF website, and get an SFF Box full of SFF-exclusive merchandise. These goodies include Kopi Granola from Nommish and Kim Guan Guan, Laksa Bean Curd Crisps by Fupi, and Old Seng Choongā€™s Nyonya Sambal Nasi Lemak Cookies, amongst many others! Do note that the SFF Box is only available for domestic delivery. If you miss out on the box, fret not, as these SFF-exclusive products are also available for sale on the website.
