Sourbombe Bakery To Open Physical Store In Dhoby Ghaut On 8 July

Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery at Park Mall

The slew of home-based businesses that took root during Singapore’s lockdown has manifested in recent times as physical stores, some of which include Tigerlily Patisserie, Rachelrax Cakes, and Puff and Peaks. The latest of these is Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery, whose namesake shop is set to open its doors on 8 July at the newly revamped Park Mall, opposite Plaza Singapura.

Sourbombe sells a lovechild of sourdough, and Italian closed doughnuts—aka bombolonis—hence the shop’s name. We were introduced to these stuffed flavour bombs by Genevieve Lee, who was the runner-up of MasterChef Singapore 2018. What initially started out as an online bakery last year saw her sourdough doughnuts fly off the virtual shelves of the Sourbombe webstore.

The psychedelic packaging and fluffy, molten-centred bombolonis have won legions of fans for their novel flavour combinations, with seasonal editions including a Hibiscus Blackberry Crush for Chinese New Year, made with an auspicious, crimson jam, and hibiscus mochi, as well as a Fig & Wine Jingle for Christmas, featuring a festive red wine and fig filling.

Expect nine sourbombe flavours available at any time, with six signatures, and three limited-edition flavours that will rotate quarterly depending on the produce of the season. The six bestselling flavours that will be the mainstays here will be: the OG Cinnabombe, Blueberry & Lemon Thyme ($4.80), Lavender Lime Mascarpone, Basque Burnt Cheesecake ($5.60), Hojicha Caramel, and Passionfruit & Caramelised Banana ($5.60).

Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery’s physical shop is touted to have a takeaway kiosk, alongside a retail section, and production kitchen, opening up the option to pick up your online orders here too. Joining the bombolonis on the menu here would be a selection of drinks, including cold brew coffee, house-made kombucha, and dairy-free tea lattes.

While the soft launch of Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery at Park Mall starts on 3 July, it’s probably advisable to hold your horses till they officially open on 8 July before you make your way down.
