The well-known Tai Wah Pork Noodle, previously only found in Hong Lim Market and Food Centre, is finally opening a second branch in Bedok. If all goes well, theyāre expected to launch on 1 August, bringing their famed bak chor mee to the East.
According to 8days, this new outlet will feature the same signature menu as at their Hong Lim branch, but with prices slashed $1 across the board. The Hong Lim Market Tai Wah is currently closed till further notice, in part due to the deep cleaning ongoing at the market, so the opening of this new outlet, with its lower prices, is a timely fix to your BCM cravings.

Tai Wah Pork Noodles, run by the nephew of the hawker behind Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodles on Crawford Lane, is unrelated to the Michelin-starred stall, although both see similarly long queues. They serve a largely identical menu of BCM, with the same accompanying ingredients in each bowl, but there is said to be a marked difference in the sauce mix of the dry noodles.

If you havenāt tried either of these stalls, go for the largest bowl, dry, with chilli, to make it worth your wait. This bowl of noodles, tossed in a house mix of sauces, lard oil, vinegar, and chilli, comes with slices of pork, minced meat, pork liver, and fried sole fish that ties it all together with umami brininess. If that wasnāt enough, youāll also get a serving of rich, porky soup with pork dumplings and meatballs on the side.Ā Ā
