Bak chor mee fans, take note. Third-generation hawker stall Tai Wah Pork Noodle (Hong Lim) is set to open two new outlets—Hougang and Farrer Park—by end 2021.

The Michelin Bib Gourmand bak chor mee stall currently has two locations: the original stall in Hong Lim Market and Food Centre, and its second branch that opened in Bedok just last month.
Run by Gerald Tang, the nephew of the hawker behind Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodles on Crawford Lane, Tai Wah Pork Noodle is unrelated to the one Michelin-starred stall, although both see similarly long queues. While both menus look largely the same, the sauce mix for the dry noodle option is said differ across both stalls.
According to an interview with 8days.sg, owner Mr Tang revealed that the fourth outlet will open in a new Kim San Leng coffeeshop on Owen Road sometime in October. In the meantime, the stall is gearing up for their new Hougang launch on 15 September.

With more than 80 years of history since its launch in 1939 at Tai Wah Coffeeshop on Hill Street, the family-run stall is a well-known name in the local bak chor mee scene. In 2003, the stall moved to Hong Lim Food Centre and only opened their second branch in Bedok this August.
If you haven’t tried their noodles, go for the largest bowl, dry, with chilli, to make it worth your wait. It’s tossed in a secret combination of sauces, vinegar, lard oil and chilli, on top of minced meat, pork slices, pork liver, and fried sole fish for a hit of umami. Wash it all down with a serving of rich, porky soup with pork dumplings and meatballs on the side.
