We Tried Takagi Ramen’s New Matcha Broth So You Don’t Have To

Takagi Ramen has new matcha ramen at all outlets

We all know and love Takagi Ramen for their affordable and delicious ramen. From time to time, the brand would also introduce something new to the table; past creations include mealworm ramen and cockles milk tea.

Most recently, they launched a dish that might pique the interest of matcha enthusiasts: Matcha Tori Paitan Ramen ($10.90).

This bowl of ramen comes in a striking green colour, thanks to the matcha powder that peppers the chicken-based broth. The noodles are laced with generous amounts of coriander, and also come with baby corn, spring onion, and lean chicken slices. As profound fans of matcha, here’s what we thought about this dish.

Upon first sip, the broth boasted a rich, meaty flavour with a subtle bitterness from the matcha. Though the matcha flavour was not super prominent, it lent an extra savouriness to the broth, which I found rather enjoyable. If anything, I just wished that they added a bit more matcha powder.

If you are not feeling too adventurous, there is also the regular Tori Paitan Ramen ($9.90), which essentially sees the same chicken-based broth without the addition of matcha. If you’re wondering how the broth tastes without the matcha, it is much lighter and cleaner as compared to Takagi’s regular tonkotsu broth.

Aside from the two new ramen dishes, there are also two new matcha beverages: Salted Cloud Matcha ($6.50) and Azuki Bliss Matcha ($6.50). You can choose to pair these drinks with either the Tori Paitan Ramen or Matcha Tori Paitan Ramen for $14.90.

The former features earthy matcha topped with a salty foam, while the latter is a milky matcha latte paired with sweet red beans. Out of the two, we preferred the Salted Cloud Matcha as we thought the saltiness balanced out the sweetness of the drink well.

This new menu is available at all Takagi Ramen outlets for a limited time only, so hurry down ASAP to try it out for yourselves!
