This New Bugis Kiosk Has Taro Mochi Milk Tea, Black Sesame Ice Blend And More

Teamoo is a new bubble tea kiosk in Bugis

If you’re a bubble tea fan, Teamoo is the latest spot to add to your list. Located just a short four-minute walk from Bugis MRT Station on Liang Seah Street, this new kiosk serves a variety of speciality drinks and desserts, many featuring their house-made mochi.

Prices here are on the high side, with desserts starting from $5.60 and drinks from $6.50.

One thing to note: the opening hours listed on Google Maps aren’t accurate. During our weekday visit at noon, we were lucky to catch the kiosk just as they were opening their shutters. Service wasn’t exactly seamless either, as the staff seemed to be figuring things out while we were there. It’s likely just some early-opening kinks being worked out since the kiosk has only recently launched.

The Steamed Lipu Taro Rice Mochi ($7.90) is one of Teamoo’s signature offerings. This drink pairs milk tea with creamy orh nee and soft chunks of mochi at the bottom. The handmade mochi bits were delightfully tender, reminiscent of Japanese-style warabimochi.

Unfortunately, we found the drink a little too creamy, with the tea flavour taking a backseat. We also wished there were more yam paste and mochi chunks to better justify the $7.90 price tag.

The Blueberry Matcha ($9.90) was visually striking, with vibrant layers of purple and green, but it didn’t quite deliver on flavour. The matcha foam leaned more towards jasmine green tea with its floral perfume, which was a letdown for matcha fans like us. That said, the fruity blueberry jam paired nicely with the creamy foam.

Thankfully, the Black Sesame Sherbet ($7.90) fared better. The nutty, earthy black sesame paste worked well with the blended beverage, and the mochi balls added a satisfying chew.

Since Teamoo only launched recently, it might be worth waiting a little while for the store to iron out its opening kinks before visiting.
