Tiong Bahru Plaza’s SG60 Food Fair Has Over 14 Stalls, A Pop-Up Bar And Exclusive Blind Boxes

Tiong Bahru Plaza celebrates SG60 with a food fair till 10 August

There are few better ways to celebrate Singapore than with good food, and Tiong Bahru Plaza has clearly understood the assignment. From now till 10 August, the mall is running a Local Meets Global: SG60 Edition food event featuring 14 food stalls, a pop-up cocktail bar, and old-school game booths for a deliciously fun time for all ages. 

Naturally, the food fair at the Level 1 Main Atrium is what has us most excited. Expect a line-up of hawker favourites and international delicacies, such as Ramly burgers, sweet potato balls and more.

If you’re spoilt for choice, here are some highlights:

Quench your thirst at PlayMade’s booth, where they’re serving two summer-exclusive drinks that you can only get at this event. The Pineapple Tea (from $4.50) is light and tangy, packed with real pineapple bits for added zing and texture. If you prefer something creamier, the Pineapple Milk Tea (from $5.50) is a milky take on the same flavour. 

They’re also serving up egglets at the event, available in five flavours, if you’d like to pair your bubble tea with a snack.

Another standout is Ah Ma’s Laksa, dishing up comforting bowls of this local favourite. 

The version here is priced at $4, and comes loaded with ingredients like prawns, tofu, fishballs, and fishcake, all nestled in a thick, coconut-based broth that packs quite the spicy punch.

For a nostalgic treat with a modern twist, Chub Tutu is where it’s at. Their freshly steamed kueh tutu features a variety of fillings, both classic and creative. 

Besides the traditional Peanut and Coconut, adventurous foodies can try fillings such as Marmite Chicken, Watermelon, and, our favourite, Lotus Biscoff. Prices start at $4.50 for five.

Don’t miss the Thai Fried Banana stall either, where crispy fritters are the main attraction. The Banana version is a classic—sweet, crispy, and topped with fragrant sesame seeds. 

They also offer Sweet Potato and Yam fritters, which are just as addictive. Fritters are priced at $5 for seven pieces.

Wash down your bites with a visit to Kampong Spirit, a pop-up bar by RedDot Brewhouse at the Pop-Up Event Space, near Toast Box. Running from 1 August to 3 August, and 8 August to 10 August, between 1pm to 9pm, the bar serves up locally inspired cocktail flavours with a twist, alongside familiar favourites like ice-cold craft beer (from $9).

Even better—if you’re among the first 50 people to visit the bar on Friday to Sunday, you’ll score a free cup of beer, on the house.

The bar has three locally inspired cocktail flavours on the menu, all served in kopi bags to keep with the theme.

Bandung fans ought to try the Rose Breakout ($8.50), a draught cocktail with floral rose notes.

The old fashioned gets a makeover in the form of the Kopi Old Fashioned ($11). Here, blended scotch and cold brew coffee are sweetened with umeshu and gula melaka. 

Finally, there’s the Tipsy Milo Dino ($10), a sweet-salty concoction that nods to everyone’s favourite childhood drink, the Milo Dinosaur.

Live music by a band adds to the celebratory mood.

Cellarbration will be running a Liquor Fair from  28 July to 10 August, where you can nab discounted bottles for all your SG60 celebrations and beyond. 

There’s also the opportunity to level up your bartending skills, with cocktail-making and spirits appreciation workshops open to the public on  2, 3, 9 and 10 August, from 3pm and 5pm, limited to 8 people per session. All you need to do to join is to spend $30 in a single receipt to participate in the workshop. 

Additionally, spend $30 and redeem a game passport at the Level 2 Customer Service Counter to kickstart some fun and games. Between 1pm to 5pm on 2, 3, 9, and 10 August, game booths will be located all around the mall, with prizes to be won.

Test your reaction speed with five stones at the Level 1 Drop-off Point, or face off in a battle of dexterity with chapteh at the Level 2 Lift Lobby.

Better with your hands? Then pick up sticks in front of the Level 3 Kopitiam is your game to win. Finally, relive rowdy days in the school classroom by battling erasers at the Level 4 Community Space. 

Complete all game stations for a gachapon chance to win nostalgic toys, snacks, or even a $5 Decathlon gift card.

Capture lasting memories by snapping photos at a charming photo op set-up reminiscent of heartland mama shops.

That’s not all—Tiong Bahru Plaza is running a spend-and-redeem promotion throughout the festivities and beyond. Spend $60 in a maximum of two same-day, same-mall receipts at participating FRx stores and receive one of four Pocket Makan Club Blind Box Plushie Pocket Tissue Holders. 

Designed by local illustrator Si Qi, who goes by @laughandbelly on Instagram, these blind boxes double up as practical ways to chope seats the next time you’re at a hawker centre. Each of the four designs reflects Singapore’s colourful ethnic and culinary heritage: there’s the burger for the Eurasian community, nasi lemak for the Malays, prata for the Indians, and png kueh for the Chinese. 

Redemption runs from 1 August till 31 August. Apart from Tiong Bahru Plaza, redemptions can also conveniently be made, while stocks last, at The Centrepoint from 1 August to 31 August, and Hougang Mall from 8 August to 14 September.
