Unatoto To Open In Novena On 11 Dec, The Popular Japanese Chain’s 2nd Outlet

Unatoto opens at Velocity at Novena Square with famous unagi don

Unagi fans will have a good reason to visit Velocity @ Novena Square soon: Unatoto will open a second outlet in the Novena mall on 11 December 2023!

The popular unagi don chain, which has many outlets across Japan, first arrived on our shores in January 2023. This Novena launch marks their second branch in Singapore. You can check out our Unatoto Tanjong Pagar review for the full scoop.

Their Unadon AKA unagi don is priced at a wallet-friendly $9.50++ per serving. Alternatively, order the Unadon Double ($14.50++), which comes with extra unagi, if you want more protein. There’s also the option of topping up $2.50++ for an onsen egg.

When we visited the Tanjong Pagar eatery earlier this year, we found the grilled unagi soft and tender, glazed with an addictive teriyaki sauce that had the right mix of sweet and savoury.

If their basic unagi don is too entry-level for you, Unatoto also offers Unajyu, which comprises even more unagi atop short-grain rice, served in a box instead of a bowl. Prices start at $12++, and go up to $35++ for the Unajyu Premium—the largest unagi box on the menu.

Otherwise, another popular item is Hitsumabushi ($13.50+), which helms from Nagoya. You can consume this three ways: as is, with the toppings served on the side, or with the dashi broth poured into it, ochazuke-style.

If you’re looking for a side to complete your meal, consider the Umaki ($3++): a chunky, fluffy Japanese omelette packed with eel in the middle. They also have Unagi Chawanmushi ($6++) should you prefer your eggs steamed!

The new Unatoto eatery is located on Level 1 of Velocity @ Novena Square, directly connected to Novena MRT Station. Stay tuned as we update this article once we get more information on this opening.
