Wanglee Cafe is a new under-HDB cafe in Toa Payoh

Toa Payoh’s vibrant dining scene has a fresh addition: Wanglee Cafe, a Nanyang-style eatery. Conveniently located just a few doors down from popular spots such as  Kim Keat Hokkien Mee and Happiness Nonya Cakes & Confectionery, this charming cafe promises a taste of traditional favourites in an old-school setting.

The cafe, which opened its doors in June 2024, is the latest venture from the experienced team behind Yu Huang Premium Seafood Soup, a well-loved seafood stall from Taman Jurong that closed earlier this year.

True to its roots, the cafe specialises in traditional Singaporean and Malaysian dishes that evoke the comfort of home-cooked meals. Expect to find a variety of nostalgic favourites, all priced affordably. Some of their highlights include their Kaya Butter Toast Set ($5.20), which features house-made pandan kaya, Mee Hoon Kuey ($5.80), Century Egg Minced Meat Porridge ($3.80), and Economic Bee Hoon Set ($3.80).

While you’re there, be sure to try their most popular item—Chilli Pan Mee ($6.80).

Their mains are all priced under $7, so you won’t break the bank here.
