Here’s some exciting news: Xita Lao Tai Tai, a famous barbecue chain from China, is set to open in Singapore come 15 April 2025! The restaurant will be located in Bugis+, and will be in its soft launch phase.

Known for its charcoal-grilled meats cooked on a claypot stove, Xita Lao Tai Tai was voted China’s number one BBQ chain by China Restaurant Industry Awards 2025. It also has over 600 stores across China, with this Singapore outpost being the brand’s first in Southeast Asia.

The aforementioned claypot stove is known for intensifying the smoky, charred flavours of the meat by retaining more heat than a regular stove. We can’t confirm if this is true just yet, but given the sheer popularity of the chain in China, we reckon it can’t be too far from the truth.

As for items on the menu, you can look forward to a variety of meats prepared with 28 house-made marinades. There’s the Xita Fatty Beef, which is said to have a melt-in-your-mouth quality and natural sweetness of apples. Also look out for the Signature Marinated Beef Short Plate, and the tangy Pineapple Beef Sirloin with Spring Onions.

If you aren’t into beef, you can opt for pork items such as the Signature Marinated Pork Fillet and Special Marinated Pork Skin, which sound like they’d be perfect for the grill. We hear there are also seafood options, but they have yet to be unveiled.

We’ll update this article when we have more information about the restaurant, so stay tuned. In the meantime, check out our best Korean restaurants in the CBD guide for some excellent K-BBQ. For a K-BBQ restaurant with an automated grill, read our CheongDamChae review.
