Traditional dessert shops are a dime a dozen in Singapore, but here’s one you might not have heard of: Yat Ka Yan at Fortune Centre. While you can expect your usual fare of desserts such as pulut hitam and tau suan here, you’ll find that Yat Ka Yan has also got some particularly unique options.Â

Their dine-in exclusive Creamy Chee Cheong Fun ($5) is one of the items that you won’t often see. The dish features silky rice noodle rolls and chopped bak kwa pieces in a creamy and savoury sauce—akin to cream-based pasta sauces. It is then finished with spring onions and fried shallots for an extra touch of flavour.Â

If you’re here for the desserts, check out the different kinds of chendol Yat Ka Yan has to offer. The Yammy Chendol ($5.50) is especially great if you love taro desserts. A bowl of this icy treat comprises thick yam paste atop shaved ice laden with coconut milk, pandan jelly, red beans, and gula melaka syrup.Â

For something more indulgent, the Durian Chendol ($6.20) is worth a shot—sweet, rich, and creamy, this dessert is popular amongst durian fanatics.

Yat Ka Yan’s Orh Nee Brulee ($7.90) is another interesting orh nee dessert. It stars a sweet orh nee pudding base beneath a crunchy layer of caramelised sugar and fresh fruits.Â

Aside from that, regulars also recommend trying other desserts from the shop too. Some notable mentions include the Yam Paste ($3), Walnut Paste ($4), and Ice Jelly With Passionfruit And Soursop ($5) for something refreshing.Â
